If you end up wondering next November how a liberal President can run up a trillion dollar deficit and still get re-elected, take a look at this post, right here. Social conservatism is rotten from the inside out, and every once in a while it shames enough flat-taxers and chickenhawks to vote Democrat.
i dont know what you are trying to say here, but it doesnt change the content of the story and arguing w/ blasto over whether or not social media played a part is irrelevant.
really? note that in the 3rd link, it says the mobs are organizing via social networking - can we move on from that strawman argument now? http://www.wfaa.com/news/crime/Mob-rushes-South-Oak-Cliff-store-caught-on-camera-125191254.html http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/news/dc/video-mob-of-teens-rob-dupont-circle-store-042711 http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2011/06/23/teen-mob-hits-walgreens-off-the-mag-mile-steals/
The fact that you're using local TV news answers a lot of questions "Twitter blacks out to attack you and your family!" is the perfect local news story - it pretty much writes itself. There's no evidence presented in them, unfortunately for you, that supports the claim that these incidents are either frequent or increasing in frequency...not a single bit of empirical data at all. The fact that a mugger now has a twitter account, whereas a 10 years ago he didn't, isn't probative of this. In fact, one of them appears to be listing random street crimes/muggings in south and west chicago, and since they were stealing ipads and blackberries, chalking them up to some sort of new hi tech thuggery. So stupid I don't have to explain. Having lived on the southside, I can tell you that we had street crime back there in the early internet non-social networking age, and the victims were black and white. http://www.wfaa.com/news/crime/Mob-rushes-South-Oak-Cliff-store-caught-on-camera-125191254.html http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/news/dc/video-mob-of-teens-rob-dupont-circle-store-042711 http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2011/06/23/teen-mob-hits-walgreens-off-the-mag-mile-steals/[/QUOTE]
Yes really. The idea of premeditation isn't mentioned. On the one that it talks about social network organization, it doesn't mention race as part of the premeditation. Sorry there is nothing in that which indicates racially motivated premeditation, and nobody has posted any stats or evidence that groups of blacks are attacking whites in increasing numbers though many have made the claims. Just because basso says it's happening on this message board several times doesn't mean there's a real increase in incidents. In fact it probably means it's not true.
About Flash Mob attacks and robberies this guy couldn't have nailed it any better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G3SYRNc2pI
i'm saying given the local news everyday its a stupid ass claim that the media would be more hesistant to report this because the kids are black.
If this incident was race based, how would the unions have anything to do with it? You do realize that there are many white union members, right?
Watching basso reach a conclusion about a news story by putting together random bits of unsubstantiated data, email chain letters and paranoid blog ramblings is kind of fascinating. It's like watching an episode of Columbo, only if Columbo was a mentally challenged tea party member, paranoid and wrong all the time.
Yeah, I don't see where the big debate is here. If it can be proven this is a hate crime, they should be punished accordingly. If there was some evidence of a major link between these groups or some high level organization then that calls for a more thorough investigation.
you seem deficient in basic reading comprehension. what i said was it was unclear whether this incident was union driven thuggery (per current WI politics) or something else. i suppose it could be both, but that seems implausible, except perhaps, to you.
Lock them up even if it wasn't a hate crime. Who cares why they beat up some strangers unprovoked? It only matters that they did.
