    How old are you?

San Fran. is beautiful. Even the biggest homophobic person might agree with that.

The San Francisco newsrag (also the Chronicle) is losing even more money, and they have liberal (and even gay!) writers working for a liberal (and even gay!) audience. Go figure.

And as someone born, raised, and proud to hail from Houston, now happy to live in SF, I agree: thank god all our cities aren't identical (just most of them).

Well, it's more about the stupidity than friendliness. There is a disproportionate percentage of the population here who are anti-science and anti-reason. To me, that's stupid and it makes me a little sick having to rub elbows with people like that.

It's really not about what's written in the papers but more about the general attitude here toward facts and reason in general.

I can see you take offense to my criticism of many of the people in Houston. Put me on ignore so I don't hurt your feelings again.

Please move to San Francisco. That way you can be at home with all the other self-absorbed, "open-minded" people that you love so much.

why are you even here? you've posted twice in the GARM, and the rest have been worthless one liners in the D&D.

Dave_78, I think people are logic-phobic in all parts of the spectrum and wherever you live. Some of the far left here in SF drive me absolutely nuts. The far left also gets very anti-science and anti-reason.

Anti GMO, Anti nuclear, and so forth and so on. And it's fine to have those stances if someone has any clue about the underlying issues.

Have you posted any arguments that amount to anything other than "I'm rubber, you're glue"

You're a turribul poster, just turribul

I'm with Dave_78. It isn't about friendliness, its about ignorance. And these ignorant people can put on a friendly face when they are not behind closed doors. I moved 5 years ago and for me it isn't anything directly related to Houston, but I wouldn't live anywhere in Texas or the Deep South for that matter. Those of you ready to start a fight and defend Houston just because someone says they don't feel like its the right place for them to live need to calm down and step back a bit.

I think its appropriate that we thank Clutch and Jeff for keeping the rhetoric from getting out hand when discussing race.

Basically, those newspaper comment sections are full of idiots, and they'll drive away any rational discussions. You'd end up with people just interested in shouting whatever nonsense they have heard elsewhere without actually thinking or discussing anything. Imagine a forum of just T_Js and bigtexxxes - that's what you'd have.

Oddly enough this thread and those comments are full of racists who post conspiracy theories that have no validity, and your only comment is on the writers of the post, and San Francisco.

The fact that you find those things more worthy of your ire than racist nutjobs is a sad statement about where your mind is at.

He will also stop calling his step-daughter his step-daughter, and refer to her as someone he'd tap.

This could go here or the birther or the white voter threads or stand on it's own as a thread. I put it here... I don't think there's much cause for speculation as to why the death threats have increased so dramatically from one of the most reviled and divisive presidents in our history.

(If what the article suggests about the SS budget and issues is true, that is also a concern.)
