Looks like the ALWC will be decided in a minute. Cleveland went down hard against CWS and Washington to mess up what could have been a good final weekend of scoreboard watching.

Yep, I'd say CLE's fate is sealed. TB vs OAK!

Yup, only questions left don't really concern Astros. Home field for AL WC and If Brewers can catch and overtake Cardinals for the NL Central division.

Yes, best record in the league is down to one, and we have Verlander and Cole going for the last two games.

I'll place my bets on us winning with Verlander/Cole. Dodgers likely will win their 2 games.

Astros clinch home field throughout the playoffs. Was a hell of a race with the Yanks and Dodgers. I don’t think more than 2 games separated them in the standings since July

In the middle of August they were 4.5 behind the Yankees and 3.5 behind the Dodgers and folks on this board had given up on them having the best record.

Astros have gone 28-9 since then.

What happens if Astros lose tomorrow and LAD wins? It would be a tie, but who gets home field throughout?

Houston does. I never knew this but the other day, they were saying the tie breaker was record against their division(Houston vs AL West LA vs NL West).

It's actually the record against their own division that breaks the tie. I think interleague record makes more sense though when breaking a tie between teams in different leagues.

You're right, I read "intra" earlier and that turned into "inter" in my head.

The Astros are only one game in front of the Dodgers but clinched home field by virtue of having a better intradivisional record. Houston beat the Dodgers in the 2017 World Series to claim its first championship, winning Game 7 on the road.

Great to have home field advantage through out, as long as they keep winning!
