Was listening to the talking heads on 610
They were saying they blame O'Brien more than RAC
because we just did not have the personell

    Do you believe that?

We had not kind of pass rush
The DBs were not able to hold water
    esp Kelce

What more could RAC have done with what he had
BO'B the GM failed the team?

    Rocket River
For the Record I was blaming RAC for the defense
until I heard them this morning .. . and I am still not sure

I don’t think they had nearly enough depth on defense, but there needs to be a scapegoat and Romeo is old and expendable. He’s the path of least resistance, so he’s the one who will be sacrificed. And I’m fine with that. Someone needs to pay!

I felt the same way until I heard Seth Payne this morning then I agreed with him but I felt there were other things we could have did to get a pass rush too so I just don’t know.

In the Zach Cunningham thread I posted that they have a lot of talent on Defense but as a unit they can't stop a nosebleed.
That has to come down to coaching..
The League will have to ban 'rub routes' for Romeo to be great once more. Even prior to the Deshaun era, teams (like the packers) would run those to death and our cornerbacks reacted like the first homo erectus reacting to fire for the first time.
And on the other end, Rub routes gave Dabo's offense @ Clemson an edge during Watson's years there and we just use them when "the week to week game plan" dictates it.

If no one has the balls to fire O'brian then Mcnair has to step up and give us an OC outside the hoodiecheat tree and a new Defensive coordinator that has shown he can stop these gimmick routes.

No one's confusing them for a great defense loaded with talent but they weren't talent deficient either.
    Romeo doesn't get a pass.

But hell I'm just glad William O'Brien gave Whitney $54M/$13.5M-yr :D

Edit: On 2nd thought, they are paying Mercilus, McKinney, Watt, Gipson a pretty penny (and Reader/Roby will want to get paid as well) ... and this is the best they got? Nah, Romeo gets no pass.

The Texans have an average defense.

The Chiefs have one of the best offenses, which usually eats alive average or below average defenses.

To win this game, the Texans offense needed to have a good game (they did) and the Texans defense needed to have a great game (they did not).

This 1000% i compared it to basketball with a team scoring layups and another team bombing 3s over and over

the offense effectively scored 17 points. Is that really good??

they scored 22 points with an extra 10 minutes the prior week.

RC needs to go but it’s absolutely more on BillyO. He’s in charge of personnel. He is in charge of RC being his DC. And he is the one making bone head calls that puts the defense in further bad position.

BillyO is reasons 1-100 they lost. Then RC.

The problem I had was it's like they didn't know how good Kelce is.

    Pass rush sucked all year.
We lost it with no clowney and as soon as watt went out.
We wonder why scrub Qbs go off on us and great qbs shatter records against us........
Easy to do when you have 5 min to stand around and pick the defense apart.
Yes RC could of done better but the offense and defense combined together to form a perfect ***t storm.
    Clean house!
    It’s the only way.

Name me a team or a D-Coordinator who has been able to shutdown Gronk, Kelce, type TEs?

I can't think of any. That said, backup QBs and below average TEs have been lighting up the Texans for years now. I blame that on RAC and his bend but don't break system. Modern NFL offenses and rules are too high power to bend and expect to not break. I think a modern wrecking style defense is more appropriate. Think Vikings, Ravens, Steelers, styles. Sure you will give up big plays but your D will make some too. High risk, high reward.

Of course it helps to have a running game and keep ball away from the other team and for that I blame OB. OB is missing some "running" pass plays that get you 3/5 yards every attempt. You can't expect to pound it up the middle each time. Need more passing running plays.

    The GM traded Clowney.

He's been spending most draft and free agent capital on the offense.

He's blown assets by signing and trading for terrible players.

Yeah, the defense is on the GM. Crennel has proven it, O'Brien hasnt

Bob hired RAC? So it's his Bob's fault.

The players suck? Well Bob is in charge of personnel. So it's still Bob's fault.

It all comes back to that cleft chin loser. Get rid of him and the dominoes will fall.

The GM gave RAC garbage and it was exposed in the playoffs.

    Guess who the GM is?

I don't remember ever really hearing from him throughout the pre, season and post. Does he give interviews and I just haven't seen them? I remember seeing and hearing from his dad all the time.
