Whether or not you like or support Adelman, it would be silly to change coaches right now. There is not a single coach, living or dead, who could turn this team into a contender.
Yes. Yes, I do. <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/SQrb85O3HQA" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe>
Our roster cost them alot of close games is what you mean right. He's proven hr is a great coach, and he's proven he can coach in tight games and in the playoffs. When have the rockets proven they could perform in those situations? Two years agovwhen they were coached by RA.
Like players, I believe coaches also reach a point in their careers where they no longer "have it" and Adelman is there. He seems disinterested and confused in his post game interviews. Some of his moves are borderline r****ded (and I think almost all of us agree with that) and his in-game strategy seems like that of a man who isn't watching the games. I don't think we need a proven guy at all to coach this team. Adelman is riding on his reputation but if you really look at the job he has done this season it's average and a lot of that has to do with this team needing motivation and someone to light a fire under their behinds. Rick doesn't do that. He's a "players' coach" on a team with young guys need direction and external motivation. I hope he retires at the end of this season and we give a guy like Sam Cassell or Mario Elie a shot. Guys who played with fire but are still young enough to remember what it's like to play in this league and who many of our players can identify with.
I'm pretty sure that if Adelman leaves and take a job with a contending roster, he'll suddenly start to "have it" once again. I'm not sure what you want him to do with two straight basically .500 teams. Even coaches get bored with non-winning. The Rockets have basically the trade deadline and then perhaps the offseason to figure out their direction. If they're going to contend, due to some miracle of Morey actually getting star players, Adelman IMO is still the best coach for the team. Otherwise, I think a mutual parting is by far the most logical scenario for both parties.
He calls out players publicly. He clashes with his players. He has wierd rotations, lottery seasons every year, lost 7 of the last 8. He has a poor offensive scheme, the Antoine Walker of coaches offensive system. Under Rick Carlisle, they used to be in the playoffs every year. They are looking at Mike Brown or Ty Corbin(Utah Jazz assistant). Ty Corbin could be their version of Tom Thibodeau, a long time assistant coach with a great reputation, that has been ignored by GMs for recycled head coaches.
Thanks. I'm digressing here, could Silas be a temporary good fit for us if he leaves the Bobcats in the event of RA calling it quits?
This is the demeanor of a pro coach.... <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/WPb2nZPxffU" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe>
If Phil Jackson coached these Rockets the Rockets would still suck. The starting center is 6'6 are you kidding me? This is not High School or College this is the NBA. All the players are good one one end of the court but horrible on the other end of the court. Then at the end of the fourth quarter no one shows up in big games against great teams.
Finally some sense. You have to step back and actually look at the roster, then make your judgment on the coach. An undersized center, a soft Luis scola, Kevin martin, and Kyle Lowry. All you have for d is Shane, really don't think that is ricks fault. Then you basically have 3 offensive nonfactors in the starting lineup ( Kyle, Shane, and chuck ) and the rockets still have one of the top offenses in the league. Do you guys seriously think there is another coach that could do much better?
