Everybody deals with death in different ways...so there's nothing wrong in paying respect to someone through humour. But you still need to take into consideration the feelings and opinions of other people that may find that stuff innappropriate and offensive. Moving on, I hope Comedy Central doesn't pull the Croc Hunter episode from its rotation, at least not long term. That is as fitting a tribute as anything, considering you know you've become an important figure in the world when Parker and Stone parody you.
A thread that started out about Steve Irwin's passing turns into a thread about Fatty. I guess it really is Fatty 1 Irwin 0 at least when it comes to Clutchfans.
wow. another reason to not be too geeky and post info concerning your personal life on a message board. anyway, kinda late, but... i liked the spirit of the guy. someone said something similar earlier... if everyone showed as much spirit about his/her passion in the world, then yah... this place would be a helluva lot better. well... nevermind. now that i think of all the threads going on in d&d about people's "passions", that makes only a tad bit of sense. but the real question is... does a "haryasz" do it for the attention?
Fatty might come off as a callous *******, but it's just an effort to get attention/dialogue he doesn't normally get. He's harmless & his heart is probably in the right place. If some of you can't see the pain in his posts about his kid & his ex... you're blind. He probably doesn't have close friends he can be open with. Anyway. I was never some big Steve Irwin guy - in fact, he often annoyed me - I don't like seeing animals prodded and poked - but again, his heart was in the right place. They had a show today where Irwin was practically in tears b/c some people had some poor porcupines in choke collars on the side of a hot road just to show off to tourists... His death is sad & he did good. Those who make light of it often don't know of any other way to deal with difficult emotions.
I was searching for a thread, but I came back this far, and realized i never posted in this one. He loved what he did, and believed in it. He was a strange one, but he got people to like the wild and outdoors. there will be more that follow in his footsteps.
Anyone catch the memorial for Steve at Australia zoo? Not sure when it would be played in the US but they showed it live here in Australia. Really was an amazing memorial for a man who lived life like very few. It's seems very strange to say this about someone you have never met but I have never felt more proud of a single person as I did when Bindi got up and spoke. She really is an amazing girl and I would not be suprised if we see some very special things from her during her life.
I happened to come across it by accident and glad I did. It was a great celebration of his life and exactly the way he would have wanted it. Props to him for living such a full life, if only everyone has an ounce his passion for things they do, the world would be a better place. I feel for his father, wife and 2 children but they will do him proud by continuing his legacy. CRIKY! Animal Planet is replaying it at 11 PM (Houston time)
