The alliance was getting big. After the destruction of the first Death Star many more systems were going in. By the time of ROTJ you could see how many more races were involed etc.

If you read Heir to the Empire (5 years after ROTJ) The Empire was down to 1/5 the size and was only in control of remote systems.

Some comendable arguments on both sides of the "yub nub" debate. O must day thought that regardless of cheesy amd kiddy it may look now it's the way I remember seeing it in the theaters in 84. You can't just change it all of the sudden. Were is the loyalty to the OG 5 year olds that saw it first!!!

I don't care how much cash you have Lucas!! You ain't taken my memories.

II is much better than III. Love story aside, there's a lot to like in that film. Obi-Wan's subplot was interesting. It's the fault of ROTS that we never got a payoff to the Sifo-Dyas/Clone Army/Jedi Archive plotline.

Dooku and Jango were much better characters than the pathetic General Grievous.

The action scenes were better. I mean, how many lightsaber duels did we really need to see in ROTS? And I much prefer Jango chasing Obi-Wan through an asteroid field versus the Jedi fighting off buzz droids.

And say what you will about Hayden sucking as Anakin, but at least he did more than just glare in Episode II. Seriously, the dude had one expression on his face the entire running time of ROTS.

Oh, and the primary reason II was better than III:

    Darth Vader: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

    What's wrong with Darth Vader's "NoooooooOoOOOooooo!!!!" ??? :(
read??? I thought you could only WATCH Star Wars' stuff. :(

I am still amazed at how many people didn't know the Emperor was Senator Palpatine in the 1st movie and my 8-year-old (at the time 3) could tell whom it was.

HBO showed all 6 movies this weekend, and my friends and I were bored, so we started talking.

First off, Leia says she knew her mother briefly in Jedi. According to Sith, she's a "Rollins Band." (AKA - a Liar.)

Second, you've got to love what happened to those two:

Embassador: "What should we do with the twins?"

Ambassador: "Take the girl and put her in a palace with a King. "

    Embassador: "And the boy?"

Ambassador: "Shove him in that bum Owen's igloo."

Here's the sad part: I found a translation of the nub nub song. Some people need to be destroyed.

Yub nub, eee chop yub nub,
    Freedom, we got freedom,

toe meet toe pee chee keene, g'noop dock fling oh ah.
and now that we can be free, c'mon and celebrate.

Yah wah, eee chop yah wah,
    Power, we got power

toe meet toe pee chee keene, g'noop dock fling oh ah
and now that we can be free, c'mon and celebrate.

Coat ee chah tu yub nub,
    Celebrate the freedom

Coat ee chah tu yah wah,
    Celebrate the power

Coat ee chah tu glo wah.
    Celebrate the glory.

    allay loo ta nuv
    celebrate the love

Glo wah, eee chop glo wah, ya glo wah pee chu nee foam,
Power, we got power, and now that we can be free,

ah toot dee awe goon daa.
    it's time to celebrate.

Coat ee cha tu goo (Yub nub!)
    Celebrate the light (Freedom!)

coat ee cha tu doo (Yah wah!)
    celebrate the might (Power!)

coat ee cha tu too (ya chaa!)
    celebrate the fight (Glory!)

allay loo tu nuv (3 times)
    celebrate the love

Glo wah, eee chop glo wah.
    Glory, we found glory

Ya glow wah pee chu nee foam,
The power showed us the light

ah toot dee awe goon daa
and now we all live free

    allay loo tu nuv.
    celebrate the love.

To be fair, the Clone War animations did a much better job of developing the Grievous character; by the time ROTS picks up he's but a shell of his former self...thanks in no small part to Mace Windu.

I find it amazing that people bash the prequels because they're made for kids but then complain that Lucas is changing the originals because it is a part of their childhood.

And do you think IV, V, and VI weren't make for kids? The difference is....we were kids when we first saw them.

People make fun of the prequels because of the wooden acting, but Mark Hamill ain't exactly Robert Deniro.

My only complaint with the prequels are the special effects. IMO the special effects are BETTER in the trilogy, even though they were done 30 years ago. All the computer effects make the prequels look like a video game. IMO it's just lazy to do it all by computer.

BTW, A New Hope is on HBO right now...

    Ep 1 :

the good : Pod Race, Darth Maul, the coolness of seeing the old characters in their younger days,

the Bad : Jar-Jar Binks, Jake Lloyd being an annoying little douche kid, throwing in more token black people, the queen's ridiculous get up.

    Ep 2 :

the good : Yoda. Lightsaber Duel. ****in awesome. The origins of the clones, and Boba Fett was interesting but I mean why is he even that popular? Why not show Greedo as a young boy out slapping bad guys first and still getting knocked out. I never understand all the hub-bub over boba fett. He's a minor character.

the bad : everything else pretty much. The terrible, terrible dialogue between Anakin and Padme.

    Ep 3 :

the good : the story building up. the wookiees kicking some ass. Yoda and Mace throwing down. It actually made sense, and I think Lucas did a decent job of making them all fit together with a few very minor plot holes. The epic final battle.

the bad : oh jesus that "Enter : Darth Vader" scene was so ****ing cornball I nearly blurted out laughter when I heard it. The first thing coming out of his mouth "Wheres Padme" made no sense in my mind. It was a bad transition, I could not believe Darth Vader would give a **** about her. Then the glorious "NOOOOOoooOooOoOoOoooo" that followed. That almost ruined the whole thing for me. Otherwise, it thought it was the best of the 3 by far.

No I completely agree with you. That's my point. Everyone rags on the prequels because of their kiddie nature but they're made for the same age groups. It's just that the children who watched the first trilogy aren't kids now.

Well considering that Padme was the whole reason he turned to the dark side, he might have a little bit of an interest in her survival...even though he did choke her into unconsciousness.

I also didn't have a problem with the "NoooooOoooO."
