basically we got owned by barbosa! but to my knowledge, head is guarding him. i would like to see spanoulis guard barbosa next time.
Are you serious? He gave the freaking link and said that's where he took it from. He translated and spent all that time posting pictures. Why don't you try to be like him and add to the forum instead of starting crap for no reason.
I dont know why I am defending Zach Kang, I dont even like him (just kidding) The original writer should at least ask permission from NBATV by your logic or come up with his own drawings of the play. The original may be better that Zach's own little spin, but as you said he is free to make his points and I think those are valid points (not that I agree) I think this thread is fine, and it doesnt need to be locked. You sounded very humble with that IMO mark, then throw out that lock the thread suggestion, which is like a sledge hammer, interesting.
Yes, those are his own drawings of the play. He spends hours studying the tape and his articles are often posted at around 4'o clock AM.
The Rockets' defense is not good, behind teams like Pistons, Spurs by a wide margin, the margin is caused mainly by: 1) Not enough pressure on the player manning the point. 2) Bad defense on pick n roll, especially yao, when the opposing team's C come out to set a pick, there's absolutely nothing he can do. Even when he's not tired, yao comes out to apply a little bit of pressure on the person with the ball, and then switch with another Rockets to chase back his own man... is this a good way to defend pick n roll? In the past matches, we've seen time and time again, that whoever player yao guarded, that player would come out to set pick for pick n rolls, thus leading Yao chasing after him all over the court, draining yao's energy. If Rockets can solve this problem, then it's won't be surprising for Yao to score even more, because he will have more energy on offense.
In the pic where Nash splits the double team that is not Rafer's fault at all. Marion or whoever sets a pick ON RAFER and Nash drives. You should blame that on Novak.
Spot on. You have a good basketball mind. We can have issues with a certain player or coach but yet try to be fair in our evaluations and analysis. The screen shots point to many issues that are not specifically Rafer's only. In the same breath the screen shots sometimes do not tell the whole truth. In all, it seemed to me that te coaches poorly prepared the troops for this game (something JVG rarely does). Our defensive rotation was poor, the starting lineup unfairly forced Novak to do something he has not been accorded enough time to master in real game action on the court. Lets see how JVG adjusts to them in the next game. A team that could give us a similar matchup nightmare is GS Warriors. We have to prepare well to handle them now just in case we meet any of them in the playoffs.
The hate towards Rafer on the BBS is a bit ridiculous. He had a bad night, but on the season he's still playing well and has been doing his job. We have T-Mac and Yao, we're not going to have Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Tony Parker etc. as our point guard. Rafer is still one of the better point guards in the league and I'm happy he's on the team.
I don't have any personal issues with Zach Kang either. Zach Kang said in the header that it was a "Quoted analysis" and he said it again at the end of the thread that it was quoted from Hoopchina with a link that will brought you to the original writer's thread. Wouldn't you thought at the beginning that Zach Kang nicely translated an analysis from a Chinese poster until Zach Kang said later that there were just his own points? To be fair to the original writer, I believe the thread should be locked to avoid confusion. I indeed appreciate every poster who spent time to make analysis of the game, with screen shots will be even better as that would help me to understand the game plan more. So if Zach Kang honestly translated the analysis or even just share the link with us, he will gain respects from me instead. Perhaps it is double-standard to you, not sure if others feel the same way, but I am fine and I do not believe NBA TV will go after a casual BBSer who made a game analysis with the aid of screen shots from their TV programmes.
- means 1 the other bolded on means in chinese is Na Me That is all I understand from my Chinese I class i'm I am in right now
I have a suggestion. If anyone would like to use plays to analyze (unbiased analysis is preferrable), dont you think using actual video woujld more effectively illistrate your points? Screencaps are limited in what you can show. I might be interested in cutting out individual plays for said analysis....all the potential analyzee needs to do is get me the gametime for each play and I could clip them for use in a thread like this. I really like when people break down plays, adn wouldnt mind helping out if it brings on some real discussion (which means I wont be a party to tryin to twist things to bash a player who for the most part doesnt deserve it) the reason I mention that is that it is obvious that Zach is twisted the hard work of someone else to unfairly (for the most part) bash a player he doesnt like. If IM gona put in the extra work involved in clipping individual plays for analysis...I want my work to go towards a good discussion just a note...if anyone like Caboose or heypartner(I wish he would do this, the dude knows his bball) is interested...contact me...the email in my profile is a good address.
Whatever - Rafer makes horrible decisions. He shoots when he should pass. I mean, his whole driving floater layups from 8-10feet out are a complete disaster - I've never seen him pass of a drive and never seen him make one of those shots. THe clang off the rim - it's truly painful to watch. All Rafer does is hit open set threes. The guys lacks basketball intelligence big time, I don't know how JVG tolerates him!
I just know that rafer was really slow and always behind his opponent he was running behind nash all game, there was one instance, where we were really close, Rafer looked like he got an energy drink, ran infront of Nash and blocked his shot...that was amazing but that was the only time he made it happen... I dunno...rafer really stinks..especially his defense..I mean if you can't hit shots, make it up somewhere, somehow...
can you please make a short video of Rafer from the Phoenix game, wherever he was visible, please cut it and post it here
I didn't fully understand what Zach Kang was getting at but I think its obvious that Nash and Barbosa are much better than Rafer. I don't think Rafer is bad as people make him out to be but he can't keep up with the studs at PG that the Suns have.
Wow.....another Rafer sucks thread, just what the Doctor order. i'LL BITE. If Rafer sucks....then so does TMac...Obvious Reason Juan.....Waist of sperm Shane......He just now starting to find his stroke (unexceptable!!!!!! and the charges he takes are getting old) Chuck.....Hackroid Steve Novak..........he needs to be shooting atleast 62% from the field Billy Spoon........He can't spell assist Bozi..........waist of sperm Does it seem like I'm reaching?
