Steve is simply overburdened. He is asked to the ball distributor and the leading scorer which on some nights become mutally exclusive. Steve is a bad to the bone scoring machine and as such he should be playing the two guard position which I think would result in a more effective use of his abundant talent. I just don't believe the game is set up for the point guard to also be the primary offensive weapon.

Perhaps in the upcoming draft we can get a real pass first point guard that can hit the three and no tspedn the entire 24 seconds pounding the ball. Steve can rotate through the one spot as a sub. Moochie can be traded along with one of our plentiful 4s fro a scoring threat at the three. Mobley could also see time at the three during certain matchups when Grifin and Cato are in the game to give support defense.

Not that this was addressed to me, but:

    Kobe Bryant
    Shaq O'Neal
    Duncan
    Garnett
    Ray Allen
    McGrady
    Vince Carter
    Jason Kidd
    Paul Pierce
    Webber
    Antoine Walker

Of course i meant guards, i know Duncan Garnett Shaq Webber can help this team, but Walker isn't better than Francis.
Allen, mcgrady carter pierce. Are all good players but all they do is score, and Francis can rebound and pass.
That leaves us with 2 players on that list. Kidd and Bryant. let look ad these 3 players Bryant is the best scorer than Francis and then Kidd, Kidd can pass the best than Francis and than Bryant. But Francis is the best rebounder. Kidd is a good player, but we need a scorer, Mobley alone isn't enough. Bryant perhaps. But he has an ego that is to much, and i don't think that he can make mobley better like Francis can, but maybe he is good for Houston, but still i would keep Steve (especially if his migraines disapear)

I did keep track of each possession tonight and I can honestly say that the point I made earlier were spot on and I trust that some folks, at least, saw tonight the kind of things that are concerning me about the rockets and the role Stevie play as the point guard. All of it is further underscored by the excellent point guard play of Nash and the way he performed surgery out there tonight. This was no helta skelta, confused play by Nash.

Again the stats will show that Stevie had a monster game but I find that he once again led the rockets through the most challenging part of the game. Yes I know Dallas put on a zone and we eventually adjusted. The last 8 possession of the 1st Q went like this:

    2 airballs by Francis
1 pass to eg at 14 sec for a 3pt
1 penetration by Francis and he got fouled
1 penetration and pass to KT and he got fouled
1 Early in the shotclock pass to Mobley then to Cato for a dunk
1 Dribble to 3 sec then pass to Mobley who miss the 3pt resulting is a fast break dunk by Dirk
1 dribble to 8 sec and missed jumper to end the Q.

Success on 4 of them. With that we were well on out way to almost having the lowest total in a half by a mav opponent this season.

And to make matters worst the man Stevie was playing, a fellow ALL-STAR went wild for the second time in a week. So sit there and tell me that I should not have strong difficulties with aspect of Stevie's game and how they impact the rockets.

Actually, Francis was checking Finley for alot of the game. Cuttino and Mooch checked Nash just as much.

I believe you are wrong on Stevie and Nash. Mobley was on Finley.

And the point is? Is it that Nash must feel fortunate that Stevie was not guarding him? Or are you saying that Stevie could have stopped him, like he stopped Davis?

Woah, you sound angry or bitter here man. Steve was on Finley for quite awhile.

BTW, did you chart the 3rd and 4th quarter as well?

Steve may not have stopped Davis, but Davis certainly didn't stop him. FWIW, neither has Nash.

As promised this weekend, I will chart some of the past few games. I did not chart the 3rd Q or 4thQ which I will over the weekend.

While I am at it, I will take a look at that infamous 3 guard rotation and it vaunted effectiveness.

We all hate that rotation. Moochie shouldn't have been in in the 4th at all.

mobley guarded nash equally if not more than steve. also i can't believe moochie replaced cato. i also can't believe how much i wanted cato in the game, but i'm liking it. rudy stands way too loyal to his players and rotations. i like the mooch but he wasn't in there when we made our initial run and cato again was getting key offensive boards. we don't always have to play small ball.

Mobely gaurded Nash as much, if not more than Steve did.
