All I see is a bunch of excuses on why the Rockets suck. We play too much small ball! McHale sucks! Bench Lawson! Play X more and X less! yada yada yada Stop making excuses for the players. They play with no disciple, no effort, jack up terrible shots, aren't ready to play nightly etc. Until this changes I don't care if Pop is running the squad the Rockets aren't winning ****. When the Rockets play hard and smart for 48 min and still lose then you can start blaming coaches and scheme. Until then everyone needs to hold the players accountable and stop making excuses for why they are losing.
These guys would fold if Thibs was brought in. How much of the team discipline do you credit to Pop? How much would you credit to Duncan, Parker and Manu? We don't have any leadership from our stars. You need both for it to work.
let's keep the coach and just change the roster (for the 5th consecutive season). it must be the players because showing up flat, playing down to the competition, losing to bottom 5 teams, habitual defensive lapses, monumental scoring droughts, and epic collapses just started cropping up this season. plus it's much easier to change the players than the coach. let's start a thread poll on which superstars we should get..
How about the players? If you need a damn drill Sargent to hold the players accountable, then maybe you have the wrong players. A great group of players don't need a coach to hold anyone accountable. These guys are highly paid proffesionals, they need to start acting and playing like proffesionals.
Who's responsible for players shooting well below their season average? Guys have off nights. It's not the first time and it won't be the last. Just be prepared for this exact thread, the next time it happens. You don't hear a peep when we play well and beat a Playoff team....but lose to a bottom feeder and the sky is falling. We're 8 games into the season. :lol The Rockets have played down to their competition for the past 10 years. It's always an issue, regardless of who's on the roster.
im not making excuses, im laying into this sorry ass team. they lost to the worst team in the league at home, and had 3 days off. and bev and jones were back. and they had dwight. no excuses. healthire team than last season. still dont know how to win a game w/o harden. dunno if they can even win a single quarter w/o harden. this is ****in pathetic
Harden ran his mouth and is not backing it up, and that's a fact. Curry must be laughing his ass off.
am I the only one who doesn't like seeing our starters playing 40 minutes a game vs teams like the nets and nuggets early in the season?
Players win games. If they don't win games, it is either the coach's fault for poor coaching, the GM's fault for selecting the wrong players, or unfortunate injuries. Rockets have injuries and have roster imbalance (e.g. too many players need to get to the rim to be efficient). McHale may be a problem..but last year he made things work better than expected with injuries and roster imbalance. I would give him more time until I say he's the problem this year.
What has to be understood is that this is the third year now that we have had poor defense, bad offense, and have lost to bad teams we shouldn't lose to. I am confident we will turn it around because Harden is gonna go full Harden like last year, but that can only mask the problem for so long. In the playoffs, the coach makes a real difference, and that is going to be our downfall is McHale is still the coach of this team.
Man, our leader is Harden and at the end of the day, he's a Club hopping stripper dating party boy. If he was really disciplined at becoming the best he would do much less of that stuff and focus on his game. I don't mean on the court but even off the court. How much focus can you have in the gym when your dating a kardashian and hooking up with strippers left and right?
I think we're a bit like GSW under Mark Jackson. Good players, a good team but maybe not playing to their full potential. GSW rolled the dice to see if they could do better and it paid off. Maybe it is time for the Rockets to do that as well.
Last year's success was a hidden curse because it meant that McHale was coming back. He is just awful.
