So it's worth noting that the two coaches in the NBA Finals --- the Nets' Byron Scott and the Spurs' Gregg Popovich --- had no NBA head coaching experience before their current jobs. > Popovich's prior head coaching job was at Pomona-Pitzer College in Claremont, Calif., in the 1980s. He had a 76-124 record there, but then again, he didn't have Tim Duncan. > Weird how things work out sometimes --- Tim Floyd is beaten out by Dennis Felton for the University of Georgia basketball job in April and hired as coach of the NBA's New Orleans Hornets in June. > Coaching changes are often odd, but rarely odder than the Hornets firing a coach who had gone 208-155 the past four-plus seasons (Paul Silas) and replacing him with a coach with a career NBA record of 49-190 (Floyd).
