Minor side note observation (aka pure speculation from me that may make no sense but here it goes anyways), but it seems to a small extent like TMac does not exactly have the same "love for his coach" like he was stating numerous numerous times last year when verbalizing the state of the Rockets union to the media. I am not saying anything is going on between TMac & Van Gundy at all during this first terrible month of the season that has everyone frustrated beyond belief; it is just not the same amount of brotherly love (I would go to war with this man type of vibe) as we saw last year through the ups and downs that was the 2004-5 season. TMac, as the leader of this team, usually took the initiative to direct positive words Coach Gundy's way through the media outlets, but not a peep of Van Gundy is still the man talk that I have seen out of Tracy lately. Just a kind of a subtle resignation that things are not looking good... Anyways, no excuses for this years record so far. Just interesting that TMac has not taken a stand one way of the other (not that he really needs to). I am just confused at this point how we are going to turn things around into competing for playoff positioning instead of overananalyzing the soap opera of where things went wrong or poor us. JUST GET THE W's and life will be golden...
What's TMac supposed to say? First of all he's been out most of the season due to injury and he wasn't involved during most of the losses. He's not going to get interviewed much when losing. FYI he stated a couple of days ago that he understood what JVG had been pointing out about mistakes being made on the court. He said he didn't really see it sitting on the sidelines, but once he got in the game he saw all the mistakes JVG had been talking about while he was on the sidelines. I don't think they're having any problems. Yet, anyway...
I do not know, I was just trying to get inside TMac's head for a second and that is what came out. I am just thinking out loud how we can REALLY turn things around quickly and get everyone on the same page toward the "cause" that Van Gundy spoke about a few days ago. Call a players only team meeting at Yao's restaurant and say look fellas, 2 months ago they may have predicted us 2nd in the West; hell, even 2 days ago they may have said we were 2nd worst. But RIGHT NOW fellow Rockets representing the great city of Houston, Texas RIGHT NOW is the time to seize the moment, every single thing we do from this point forward is to achieve the ultimate goal and that is a WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. THE END. Not tomorrow, not yesterday, but TODAY$%*#$%#$ Are you hearing what I am saying, or are just listening. Something like that. Or the speech that Joe Clark gave to the faculty at East Side High School in the movie Lean On Me will work. Just like it worked for the Texans http://www.americanrhetoric.com/mp3clips/newmoviespeeches/moviespeechleanonme1.mp3
Actually, I like the idea of a players only meeting at Yao's restaurant very much. Lots of good examples from those kind of meetings. It establishes two things, first, there is a true leader; second, players care. Then, they should just go out and destroy everything in the way.
