So this is the first house I've lived in that had a gas bill in over a decade, and I'm puzzled by how much I'm getting charged. I recall my gas bill for the house I lived in in the 90's being roughly similar to my water bill. ie. ~$20-30/month. But the past two months it has been hovering around $100. Is this normal? I'm in a 1983 sq. ft. townhome.
I would enquire about any credits you could receive from providing gas back into the grid. After reading that Mexican food thread you started, my guess is that you could probably break even with Centerpoint.
Yes FFB, that is normal. I live in a 2100 sq. ft. house and my Centerpoint gas bill has been $100 a month for the last two months. On the flipside, $60 electric bills have been nice.
lol I guess your ass is still chapped by the thread you started regarding the Challenger jokes that fell flat
in hindsight, not really. bored on a Sunday did you really think your Challenger joke was anything remotely acceptable? I mean, there's a difference between making a fart joke and making fun of people who died.
Yes, and I had several others back me up on it. You never have struck me as the overly sensitive type. Bad week? Or are Helen Keller jokes out of line to you, as well?
And volatile as heck, typically fluctuates between $3 to $7/MMbtu; but could shoot up as high as $10 or $15 (Henry Hub, LA futures right after Katrina shut in offshore wells) or as low as $1 (Rocky Mountain gas 2-3 years ago).
They actually have a cost calculator at their website but $100 seems way too high. http://www.centerpointenergy.com/services/naturalgas/residential/saveenergyandmoney/managingenergycosts/HO/
