Thanks for the note. I'm aware that the pricing structure of some of these services are different from the others. However they are still direct competitors in that a customer looking for delivery will choose one over the other (or choose to call the restaurant directly, etc.). Guys, only two more days to answer to answer the survey and contribute to the tipjar!
My dad has this same mindset, but I'll ask you the same thing I asked him... what's your time worth? Is it not worth ~$10 to not have to spend an hour driving to/from/shopping at the grocery store?
^^^ whoops, my mind was on InstaCart and grocery delivery businesses in that response. Same thing applies to restaurants though... just less time involved than grocery shopping.
Bumping this because I only just recently discovered Amazon Prime Now. how anyone can compete with this service, I have no idea. it's literally life changing. Free delivery, no markup/surcharges, $5 recommended tips, and there's always discount codes available. And it's great for regular amazon orders too. why wait 2 days when you get something delivered in less than 2 hours. today alone I had an echo dot delivered and ordered dinner from el tiempo.
Bumping this. I wanna try door dash but again, Houston is pretty ghetto. Do I trust a complete stranger delivering my food without spitting in it? Or better yet, steal the fries, lol. If I tip them big, would that make them happy?
1b I don't feel like paying someone for something so simple (feel like the payment is too high as well). Also - the delivery times seem long, and a lot of the foods aren't things that "keep" well. Likes, I don't want to get fries that end of soggy because they've been "sweating" in the bag for too long. Or spaghetti with little water drops in it for the same reason. Plus - I have kids and don't want to get them used to that. We'd rather cook most of the time and have them watch and learn.
I've been loving Randall's delivery. Used it 3 times so far, and only issue is twice they were 30 minutes late. $30 min. but no fee, and no tipping. And I shop at the Randall's next to me to know what the groceries are priced. No mark-up and they'll even show you the food "deals" available. Best part? First time you try it, you get $20 off your first order (min $50 on that one, but it still works out to $30.) Highly recommend.
OP, tell me about your helicopter.... Randall's is free? Man, Kroger and HEB need to step up their game. Kroger's is $12, and HEB is $5, both expect tips (although I tip them all anyway).
