oh don't worry Rockets team, Adelman, Morey, and training and coaching staff, let me take this one. A cardboard jet pack can simply be upgraded by reinforcing the shape of the box, making it water proof with some special metallic fabric that looks like aluminum foil, adding a new rowdy meter, covering all of paper buttons/meters with tape to prevent ink from running, getting rid of duct tape straps and replacing them with sewn on sturdier straps. As for my fan question, I truly believe fans have some impact on the way players play. Chanting someone's name or feeling the energy of the crowd can give the players a boost in energy or spirit. Saying or waving things while an opposing player is shooting can mess up a free throw. These are professionals, but they are humans with emotions. I think it would be cool for a Rockets player to make a statement saying something like "that'd be tight if the crowd chanted this in the 4th... or did this.... during a free throw, or for the last 2 minutes of the game everyone stood up, or I get really pumped when the crowd does...". I want to do whatever I can to help the Rockets win. Fans are the home court advantage. I imagine Daryl Morey could crunch some numbers on what things fans do at games that result in the most wins.
I think if players really cared that much about it, you'd hear more such requests from them. But their focus really should be in the game. They may feed off of the "energy" of the crowd and the noise, but I don't think their ears are attuned to specific chants or gestures. If that was the case, their attention probably isn't where it needs to be. I think the benefit of what the Rowdies do is twofold: (1) add a little extra noise to the ambiance on your own, but much more importantly (2) motivate the rest of the crowd at the Toyota Center to make lots of noise and get into the game.
I love the post and agree. I can't imagine that the players don't appreciate what you all do. Hell, I certainly do. Sometimes the Rowdies were the only people making noise last year, or so it seemed. Keep it up!
Dear Tad Brown, Would you ever sacrifice courtside and lower club level seats to get the Red Rowdies to sit there so they can emulate their idols and role models the Cameron Crazies?
Do the rockets study past championship teams? How they were the teams built and what made the teams great? What was the most games lost to injury for a team which won a NBA championship? Does talent always win over "fit" or chemistry when determining a player's value? Of all the current players in the NBA, who would Morey draft #1?
Does Aaron Brooks sweat? lol j/k real question: How the minutes of the PF position will be distributed between Scola, Hill, Hayes and Patterson?
Coach Rick the Ruler, Could we see Yao and Brad Miller on the floor at the same time against bigger teams?
Since most people have predicted the Rockets to barely make the playoffs this year, I was wondering if some of the players could sound off on what their expectations are for this year. How far do they believe they can go? Is a 1 seed even in their sights? Or are they more humble like Shane and Yao and liable to give you "one game at a time" responses? From the sounds of it so far, a couple of guys have said that this team is severely underrated and ready to surprise everyone.
If you didn't see Deke and Yao on the floor at the same time, doubt you'll see Miller and Yao. All three of them are so slow. Ok. How will they determine which game Yao will play in the back to backs.
When are we going to hire David Thrope and Hakeem as our 'exclusive' offseason skills coach? Would love to see all our 1-3s camp with Thorpe and 4-5s with Hakeem!
Would you consider bailing Vernon Maxwell out of jail, and subsequently hire him as our coach of clutchness?
then would we ever see yao n jhill on the floor 2gethr? will jhill get ANY playin time as a 4? has he even PRCTICED at the 4? (his natural position)
Do the players circle dates on the calendar for any particular rivalry games, or is that predominately something that the media and fans overemphasize? Follow up: which teams do you look forward to playing the most? ********************************************************** And Chuck Hayes need to tell Bill Simmons, "My name is my name!"* (Simmons originally used "Chuck Evans" in his article, I think at least the 2nd time he has done that.) 2nd non serious question for Chuck: "Who needs to be fired for teaching you that free throw shooting form?" *Wire reference
Actually Martin made a number of very good & unselfish passes in the pre-season games. Getting the ball deep to Yao on one occasion, and another one giving up a wide-open 3, dribbling it in, faking a shot to draw the defender and passing it out to Shane for a shorter, higher probability wide open corner 3. I think those people that think Martin doesn't pass or need to put up shots will be pleasantly surprised. He will thrive playing with an unselfish, pass-the-ball team like the Rockets as opposed to the Kings!
