Once the player "dribbles" the ball, the person that passed it can't get an assist anymore.

Never heard that ... I thought the rule was - the player receiving the pass could not dribble more than 2 times before taking and making the shot for the passer to get an assist.

i'm not sure there's a fixed rule on what can and can't be an assist. the pass just has to lead to a score in a fairly direct manner. like if you pass it up to someone for a breakaway, you'll get the assists even if they dribble 3 or 4 times since your pass led directly to them scoring. but obviously passing it to someone and then them iso'ing with 3 or 4 dribbles isn't directly leading to a score.

Back with her old boyfriend or so I heard but I haven't talked to her in about 2 years. She was using me to make this other guy jealous, so I got tired of that plus she dissed "Dogs" by Floyd. That right there was enough for me to break up with her.:p

Is that the girl who was really religious or something? Was that really two years ago? I remember you were dating a girl who still had feelings for her ex or something. We really need a timeline for some of our members here. ;)

Hey, in a lot of cases, it's true.

And you know what "M.S." is, right? More of the Same.

And a Ph.D.? Piled Higher and Deeper.

-Isabel, off to use her Piled Higher and Deeper credentials to warp impressionable young minds who will believe anything she says, at least if it's going to be on the test :D

I just got through watching "Friday Night Lights" (damn you Texans are competitive!). I was pretty confused about the whole Boobie Miles thing. He tore his ACL but it looked as if he was able to still walk and jog around on it without showing any pain. Then they put him in the game and he tries to cut but instantly feels pain and is dropped. My question, how the hell does an ACL tear work, I mean can you really walk around on the thing and what not or is it something totally different? I asked somebody and their response was that when you tear your ACL your knee won't stay in place. Is that true?

well you can definitely walk around on an acl tear. i know people have walked on it for a while before getting it fixed. i've never had one so i don't know about the pain involved or how much it affects you, but my friend has and he didn't have the surgery for a couple of weeks. granted, he had a large brace on the whole time but it wasn't as if he couldn't walk. hell, bob stoops puts guys back in games after they tear their acl. now of course if you wanna play sports and are an athlete you've gotta repair it to be able to do what you have to do but it seems just regular walking around isn't that uncommon with a tear.

I remember when I was an undergrad, I took some classes in athletic coaching and one of those was an intro to athletic training. We had to read some articles and I remembered reading one article that said that out of all ACL injuries, 70% (or some ridiculously high percentage like that) are suffered by women's basketball players. I wondered why this is the case.

My guess is that a woman's acl muscle or whatever is not designed to take as much stress as a man's. Sorry if that sounds sexist - that is not the intention, but just a theory.

ok, this isn't a question i've been afraid to ask but i've never remembered to ask it. why were abc, cbs, and nbc the big 3 channels. why were they broadcasting and it took so long to come up with other channels on tv. were they the only ones with the money or something, did no one else feel like competing, was there some technological thing that made it hard.

and on that note, why do channels like fox, cbs, nbc, abc, upn, and pbs come in without cable. as in you can just set up some bunny ears on your tv and get them. do they broadcast more powerfully, do they not charge cable companies to have them like an hbo or espn classic type thing.

essentially, why are the big 3 and those other channels special.

Usually a local television station broadcasts that network. My local station for ABC is KAIT but I do not have a local provider for FOX, NBC, or CBS because I get those stations via Memphis, Little Rock, or both. Even with "bunny ears" I cannot get NBC and CBS.
