Being from KG's hometown there are stories that he is a big jerk but he was cool when I met him a couple times but I guess it was because it was his basketball camp and tournament.

That's interesting. Maybe I was overly swayed by this article:
    http://www.slate.com/id/2169154/

"Having spent a similar amount of time in the semi-intimate company of both men, I can say confidently that two people couldn't be more different. Kevin Garnett is one of the most impressive humans I've ever been around.

    Kobe Bryant isn't.

As a strict contrarian, I wish it weren't so. But in this case, there have been no mischaracterizations. Garnett is noble, loyal, and larger-than-life. And, again, Bryant isn't.

Of course, Kevin Garnett is no teddy bear. When I arrived in Minnesota for camp, I spent my first two days playing pickup games with the team. Upon finding me—a person he had never met before—on the court, Garnett quickly had me replaced by someone from the sideline. Which I certainly didn't appreciate. But after a few weeks around the man, I decided that he had the right to tell me what to do—the court we were playing on was his court. The team playing on it: his team.
    ...

Unfortunately, it could be that the modern age has no use for Bill Russell. One of Garnett's greatest strengths—his loyalty—is laughably out of place in the superstar-focused NBA. Compared, for example, to the Kobe Bryant school of leadership. Bryant has publicly questioned the ability of his teammates; Garnett has never complained about the mediocre supporting casts he's been given. Bryant refused to play for the team that drafted him (the Charlotte Hornets); Garnett has embraced the state of Minnesota like a taller, darker version of Prince. Even this year, with his team in a tailspin and his own game under scrutiny, Garnett did nothing to shift the blame. Meanwhile, Bryant was preparing for a summer of trade demands and pro-wrestler-style pronouncements.

It wasn't censored on NBATV. Did anyone see Kobe's post game interview? What an ass. The majority of his answers were, "I don't know." He even tried to be funny and answered "It Sucks" when asked about being part of the Boston-LA Rivalry. He laughed, but nobody else did.

KG's fake excitement > Kobe's post game attitude after an embarrassing finals lost.

    Different brands of douche.

Paul Shirley may have a preference for one over the other but the bottom line is both still are douches.

KG is just straight up annoying. Like one of those guys who over hustles and is clapping his teammates on during a pick up game. You just wanna say "HEY hey... cool down.. it's just a pick up game"

However, I wish our two superstars would show more emotions on the court.

Maybe he is a guy you hate, but would love him if he was on your team.

Like Scola. I bet other teams and fans will really grow to hate him.

I'm not sure about KG's legacy in history. Certainly winning a championship helps cement him as one of the greats, but people will not forget that he was but 1 of 3 stars on the team. The same way that Kobe's first 3 championships have a semi-asterisk by them because he was the 2nd option, I feel this same methodology will be applied to Garnett's championship.

I'm happy he won though. For all his talent, he never was a take-over-the-game-in-the-clutch performer, but he paid his dues in Minnesota and was fortunate enough to be sent to a team where he didn't have to be that man.

The only thing is it WASN'T a pickup game. Fact of the matter is it was a championship game. Annoying or not.... even if it were a pickup game he would probably approach it the same way which he approaches every game which is why the guy led his team to a championship. KG, Pierce and Allen were always on bad to mediocre at best teams and in a league full of huge egos and overpaid athletes I can honestly say I have no problem with those 3 winning it because they never demanded a trade like so many stars in the league did/do.

I don't like the Celtics by any means but I gotta give credit where credit is due. They were the best team on paper before the season started and had a lot to prove. They could've easily folded and not won as many games as they did during the regular season and could have had chemistry issues with 3 superstars. They overcame adversity with the Hawks taking them to 7 and pulling out a tight one against the Cavs.

Moreover, I'm happy to see Phil Jackson lose again in the finals and also excited all the talks of Kobe on the same level as Jordan can come to a haltering stop.

Tonight I got to experience a Celtics championship next to my dad after losing my grandpa and uncle in the last few years. If you think he manufactured that just for you, then that is your prerogative. Could you possibly manufacture that if you tried?? C'mon Clutch, we owned him for so long. We had our time in the sun. Lets let go of cynicism for tonight.

In your opinion, what should he feel? All of you. This makes me sad as a Rockets fan. I expect more of you all.

It's wierd that you all should want to root for Kobe.

    I'm befuddled. Jellafied even.

Well, the thing is that all this other stuff doesn't even matter in the long run. All people will remember is that he helped lead a team to a championship. Rick Barry, by all accounts, was an obnoxious teammate. Does anyone even remember or care? Nah. 1975 Championship, that's all they remember when it comes to Barry's championship legacy. Same with KG. If anything, more people have a favorable opinion about him than the opposite. Not sure if you can say the same about Bryant.

I just wish people could state their case. At least preface their opinion with the fact that it is a mere opinion. If it's more then MAKE it more with facts. Feelings are not the be all end all and if they are then we need to be prepared for the worst. Let me sharpen my pointy wooden sticks, cavepeople.

i've been on this board a while, and the bitterness still astounds me. I though it was just a rockets thing...you know, stevie, tmac.... apparently its not.

KG wins a ring, and you choose to focus on his antics.

I am a fan of the Houston Rockets first, then I am a fan of the sport of basketball second. Every year, no matter if it is the Spurs, Celtics, Heat, etc., I am always happy for the team/players that win the championship. Yes, a few flop, yes, some are weak in the clutch, yes, some are overpaid or obnoxious or lucky. But, overall, these are skilled, hard-working athletes- and if any one of us were in their place, we would be ecstatic, silly, overjoyed as well. To be petty and cynical about athletes celebrating is just really ridiculous. Would we not want the Rockets doing the same? Of course.

Salute all the champions of the past 28 years: the Celtics, Spurs, Heat, Pistons, Lakers, Bulls, 76ers, and especially the Rockets.
