I personally would not want every single guy on our team to act like Garnett. I like how they get into the games and show emotion at the right time, and I love how the bench is usually up and cheering. It's just that jumping up and down for 48 minutes seems awfully tiring.

Seriously? Luis Scola, Shane Battier, and Chuck Hayes give 110% every second they are on the court too. Who cares. You are getting too caught up in cliche.

Look, that isn't what I meant. I don't want the Rockets to begin acting like Kevin Garnett. I want the Rockets to watch how the Celtics have played, along with the mentality that they were going to be in the Finals and win the title from Game 1 of the regular season.

That is what I want the Rockets to take away from this.

It's just my opinion. You would also think somebody who acts all wild and crazy like KG would be a tougher guy too, but look at this clip of him initiating this altercation with Antonio McDyess and then backpeddling as fast as he can and ending up near half court even though it began in the paint:

    http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/category/nba/2007/01/20/kevin-garnett-and-antonio-mcdyess-non-fight/

It's stuff like this that also leads me to believe he's fraud. Don't get me wrong, he's a very good player even though he usually disappears during crunch time, but this is how I view his antics.

But being emotional on the basketball court and being scared to get into fights on a basketball court are not mutually exclusive. Why can't he be both? So maybe he's scared to get into fist fights, so what? He's not in MMA. He's not a boxer.

I'm not getting caught up in anything other than responding to the hatred for KG here. If people weren't posting how he is "phoney", an "attention wh*re", "jerk", a "joke", etc, I wouldn't be saying much of anything.

I agree Scola, Shane and Chuck also represent what is good about the NBA by the intensity and effort they put out. Who cares? I do.

That's fine, I'll just agree to disagree and end it there.

Did you watch the clip? He pushed McDyess first, then threw the ball at him, and then threw a punch. Certainly didn't look like he was scared to initiate a fight and get his licks in with everyone around to stop it and before Antonio could really retaliate, but it also looked like he didn't want to actually fight. All of this is besides the point, this clip was just an example to further bolster my original arugment, which was that KG is a fraud. I've already given my opinion on why I feel that way in previous posts in this thread.

Not to single you out, I honestly can't remember if you said this, but what bothers me is that people are saying how much this clown deserves this title for all his hard work and the basis is "playing hard" and his intensity.

So Karl Malone and John Stockton didn't play hard for 20 years (and i HATE using that example). Patrick Ewing? Numerous others.

This guy isn't entitled to anything and it sickens me that he will now hold a place in history probably on the same status as Dream, just by riding Paul Peirce's coattails to the title. Was he instrumental in this run? No doubt. I'm not arguing that. But this is the most unclutch "superstar" in basketball history and people are acting like it's a title past due...while a guy like McGrady can hit every big shot, average 30ppg, but get labeled the biggest loser in the NBA because his teams consistently suck.

Maybe I'm bitter, but I really dislike Kevin Garnett.

I kinda hate that expression that People deserve to win a ring.

I dont think people deserve to win anything, I think you play to win it.

People who put him on dream's level are idiots, I wouldn't worry about them. I wanted to scream at him through the tv when he was deferring in the 4th quarters earlier this series. He finally had a good game tonight, but pierce, allen, posey and house all helped out greatly this series. So this was not the KG show by any stretch.

I think people in the basketball community also feel similarly about T-Mac. Great player who they would like to win a ring, but has no help(like KG in minnesota)

Well, the video proves he sure can't fight! LOL. But how does that contribute to making him a fraud? Just because someone is emotional and intense within the context of basketball doesn't automatically mean they should be able to street fight. If he were more willing to throw down and mix it up he might not've ever made it out of the streets. Or maybe he could've made it as a 7' boxer?

Is this fake? If it is, he deserves an Oscar since he can summon fake tears better than Matt Damon (though that's not really saying much. :p )

You are very bitter and over the top. Who said Malone, Stockton and Ewing didn't play hard? (Where did that statement even come from?) What intelligent person said KG "entitled" to anything? If a great player like KG gets on the right team and wins a championship, he "deserves" it just like anyone else. Some of us are happy for him because he plays hard. Others...

To each his own opinion. IMO, some of the negative opinions expressed here about KG make no sense at all. They are completely based on irrational hatred.
