Crossing place ( university village ) so far is terrible, i hate the place, I dont know how the new management will be next semester. Trace is nice, not as big as the other appts but village is good. Will you have a car? because if you wont then living on crossing place drive will suck, especially if you live at university village or campus estates. The buses are not as bad as wikersham lane. If you do move to riverside, consider getting a C or C+ permit. But don't bring a nice car...
dont fall in the trap of purchasing a utilities package. they are charging you an extra $100 per month for utilities when normally it costs $80 for the whole apartment. divide the 80 amongst the four roommates and it comes out to $20 per person for utilities. university (jefferson) commons isn't bad at all. we have new management that seems to really care about the tenants. the neighbors have been good (which is pure luck) and so far i really don't have any complaints.
Just look for flyers all over campus, out at apt complexes, and probably on craigslist for people who want to sublease. You'll often find people going on co-ops for the Fall but who need to be back in the Spring. You can also try to check co-op (meaning cooperative education..the work/school thing) message boards or something. And you can always rent for a year and sublease after the Fall, but you'd probably lose a little money and have to deal with a headache going that route.
I lived at Longhorn Landings, building 11, back when it was College Park. Never robbed, never broken into, never had car broken into. Traffic to get to campus was a pain. I paid $299 for a 4/2 with friends, and loved it. It was spacious, cheap, and had everything I ever needed, even free internet. Management was great. I highly recommend it. It had 2 choices for bus line, NR or Wickersham. That said, North Campus is way better. email me for more info.
i'm guessing you've been robbed? i live on the first floor now and thankfully we haven't had problems yet. Hope I didnt jinx myself.
Haha I lived in the Village at Riverside for a full year on the first floor, our door was unlocked all the time, and we did not get robbed. 4 people in the apartment = someone always being home at any point of the day. I was always on campus 12-15 hours a day so I decided to ditch riverside and move on up to west campus. I do miss that Joy East chinese buffet down there...
north campus is great. far west is better than riverside in my opinion, but u need a car in either instances.
this is my second year living on the first floor, no robberies yet, but the chance is much much greater
Does the utilities charge include electricity? Because otherwise, you are getting mega-ripped. I would think that electricity and gas for a 4 bedroom apartment couldn't be more than 200 bucks a month if you don't go nuts on cooling.
I used to live at University Commons in 2000. It sucked then and I doubt it is any better now. I prefer North or West campus.
Yeah it's including utilities. So what would ya pick? A 4/2 at the Ballparks for $365, 4/4 at the Ballparks for $400, or a 4/4 at Crossing Place for $423 (all are final bills).
riverside is maybe the worst spot in all of austin my freinds had a 3 bed 2 bath apt. and got held at gun point by 4 ppl and had all there stuff stolen, also another friend of mine got jumped in his own parking lot by 6 ppl and had his face broken he looked like hell and all this was at the longhorn landing i would deff not move to riverside the ppl there are sketch and its just not a good area of town go to west campus or the north side its much better and safer u really do get what u pay for and u probally will pay more on riverside from all the stuff that will get stolen from u just my toe cents
I live in a 4/4 in Denton and I pay $509 w/o utilities. Go for the 4/4 that includes utilities. Trust me paying the bill sucks majorly. Our utility is normaly kinda high so go for one where its all included. It saves you on stress. Also having your own bathroom is comforting cuz you can be as clean or dirty as you want to be w/o pissing somebody off or getting pissed off.
Dang, you and your roommates are paying 2 grand a month to live in an apartment in Denton? That must be one swank location.
