We have nice looking young women and all kind of great food. Also we have very nice fans who never complain your perform even if you just score eight points in a playoff game. Living is cheap and there is no state tax too. What else does he want?

I highly doubt Dwight hates Houston.

Him and Deron talked about teaming up and playing in Brooklyn. They want to stick to that plan. That's their plan A and when they made this plan A there was no plan B city or team and the Rockets hadn't certainly shown interest in Dwight then.

I don't blame Dwight or Deron for doing what they're doing. They just want to play in Brooklyn and made it known before the Rockets showed interest.

I would choose Brooklyn over Houston too...

Why does everyone act like it’s no big deal if he gets here, hates it and then forces his way out? If that happens (and let’s be real, the odds are that this guy doesn’t want to be here) then the Rockets have to go through hell to get back close to the position they are on the verge already being in (multiple quality draft picks and a true starting-quality PG as trade bait). Why waste two years on this guy when they can rebuild with young talent right now? Why live through another mentally soft superstar with back problems when it has been repeated that he doesn’t want to be here when the opportunity to start fresh is here now?!!

If we sign Howard under any (well most) circumstances we can't afford Scola and/or Martin

fun fact: if Howard is on the team at the end of next season, the Rockets can offer him around $25MM more than anyone else

In a year we can show
1.) What its like to not be on a terribly run franchise
2.) What its like to be in a good locker room with no knuckleheads
3.) How terribly underated our players are
4.) That you dont need two superstars to be a contender
5.) That if he walks, he walks away from ~26 million dollars.

Because I'm not willing to sit around for some mythical player who will be better than Howard and will actually love playing in Houston far more than Howard. If we're just going to only take players who will rather play for New York than Houston, we might as well accept that we're the new Kings.

They are about to blow their brains out. Suddenly it sounds like a good idea. Dwight will kill the franchise for a bit longer. Leave us and then our reputation will be even worse than what Morey is turning it into. Which is making us all look desperate and pitiful now. We need to do it the right way and its gonna take some time that way. Miami got their big 3 because they wanted to be there. Nobody wants to be here for that. I mulled it around after making the Big 3 thread and found that it made no sense in my head how it comes together for us. The reason is Dwight is set on not being here. The more we want him? The more he doesnt want to be here. He wants his own way or nothing. We cant change his mind unless Deron Williams is packaged with him to change his mind. Changing two peoples minds? Is impossible. So step away from the poison pills. Put down the gun. Take that rope away from your necks Rockets fans. Dwight is gonna kill this franchise and you.

And if you're willing to take players who would rather be here than Miami, you might as well fold up the franchise.

Its not the same. We can be the Bulls and Thunder who build their teams.

hmmm what can we do with the best center in the game under contract (assuming he signs with us) ??? right now orlando HAS to trade him and there is the likely hood that he wont sign with the team that gets him so the asking price is low .. if we manage to sign him then we have leverage AND if worse comes to worse we can get back more then we give in a trade ..

as far as why he will sign here .. not only will he get more money but consider this .. how many big market teams will have the money (cap space) to sign him as a free agent outright? how attractive is brooklyn to him, if deron williams is in dallas? lakers wont have cap room, heat wont either.. chicago has about 22 million but that is before resigning rose but that is with only 5 players on the roster and rose is not one of the 5 .. so unless they trade noah (bc who is gonna want boozer at 15million) and make other changes they will not have significant cap space to get him either .. so really his choices as a free agent will be severely limited ..

Part of it is for me is belief. If the only way for a team like Houston to contend is to sit around and tank for several years and get young stars, only to watch them be attracted in free agency to New York, I'd watch baseball.

Except in that age of globalization, that idea is junk. There's no one who refuses to give out endorsement deals to Durant, even though he plays in OKC. Amare as the second option in New York isn't covered that much more than Amare as the second option in Phoenix. Tracy McGrady had plenty of deals when he was stuck by himself in Phoenix, and AI in Philly and so on. Dirk is far more well covered now than before, and that's because he won a title, not because he moved.

    It's just not true.

Dwight Howard and josh smith are best friends. I think its a 70% chance Howard resigns if we get smith as well.

Not having to pay state income tax isn't true. All NBA players pay a state income tax on some level. They have to pay a state income tax on the games played in a state with with an income tax. They would pay less in a state like Texas because more of their games wouldn't be taxed, but they still have to pay taxes.
