In other words, management wanted to control coaching. I am pretty sure the so-called "integrated machine" means that coaching being "integrated" into management, not the other way around. So you are asserting that McHale is on the caliber of Adelman?
Leslie & co. had a long time to come up with a story that sounded plausible for letting Rick go. Clutch wrote that Leslie wanted Adelman gone at the beginning of last year. Unless you think Clutch is just saying stuff willy-nilly, that sounds like credible information to me. Even Rick in his interviews after the axing made it sound like they weren't that far apart. To me that reeks of a made-up reason for letting a great coach go. I suppose you also think Rudy T. and JVG also stepped down willingly?
Adelman's son is heading the stat analysis for the T-Wolves. Elston Turner was on the block, the FO wanted him either demoted or fired.
So Rick Adelman did not mind getting the statistical feedback from the front office or he won't put his son in charge of that in Minny. But Rick Adelman did not want to change his assistant in charge of defense, when it was clear to even the casual observer that the Rockets defense needed help. It will be interesting to see how the Rockets offense and defense fairs this season. My expectations are the offense will not be as good but the defense will be better. The team is younger so that might explain some of the change.
