I like where the Rockets stand.
This yr and next, we are around the cap (assuming TMac picks up his option next 2 yrs). That is the right amount of time to see if this group and a couple of small additions thru MLE work out.

In 06/07, everyone is off the book except for TMac, MoT, Howard. We'll be at $33 mil and plenty flexibility to sign Yao plus a good addition if needs be.

In 07/08, Tmac and MoT come off the book ($26 mil together), we'll down to $7 mil (not counting Yao), we'll have plenty to resign TMac.

If we excercise restraints now, we'll be OK for 5, 7 yrs down the road.

Wow, why did Yao's agent agreed to a team 2006 option on his contract? That's major ripoff! The man deserves to be paid MAX money after 4 years.

Wonder what will the Rockets do in 2006? Will they be cheap and pick up the option? Will they treat Yao nice and not pick up that option? Do I smell a Boozer in this?

It's a rule in the CBA. And it's only 4 yrs including the option yr.
