To be honest with you, I can not see any of the above Free Agents coming here.

    1. LeBron James - staying in Cleveland or New York
    2. Dwayne Wade - I would'nt leave Miami for Houston, please!!!
    3. Chris Bosh - Toronto has improved, I can't see him leaving
    4. Amare Stoudemire - he doesn't fit our system, Houston wouldn't do it.
    5. Dirk Nowitzki - Cuban wouldn't dare let Dirk go, he is their corner stone.
    6. Carlos Boozer - he doesn't deserve a max deal, he is always hurt.

Plus, there will still be question marks around Yao's injuries, we will probably be a low seed or a lottery team, so it would make it hard to attrack those players.

The best alternative is to resign T-Mac and get what we can out of the draft and/or Free Agency( Travis Outlaw or someone simular) next year.

Well, I like all of the answers posted here so far, but almost all have strayed away from the initial question.

What would the Rockets pay these guys????

Would you start LeBron at $15 million? $17 million? $20 million? How Long??

What do you think the Rockets front office should or would be willing to shell out for these guys?

Clearly, LeBron James as a Rocket should be considered a priority if the opportunity presents itself. Then Dwayne Wade. What do you pay these guys??? Remember, there is competition from International teams to swipe these players up, do the Rockets want to miss a chance to sign what is the closest player to Michael Jordan that there will be in this generation of basketball? I doubt Morey or Les Alexander does.

Folks, just think of the revenue stream that the Rockets organization would be creating from China ALONE, with a Yao Ming & LeBron James duo on the court, not to mention that they already have the likes of Luis Scola, Carl Landry, Trevor Ariza, Aaron Brooks, Kyle Lowry, potentially Chase Budinger if he breaks out and Jermaine Taylor etc. This team has been built to rock the NBA each and every year! You go all out for LeBron James and no matter where you rank in the standings, you will be making money hand over fist.

Essentially, what I am asking you to do is think as business men / women and figure out what these players are worth financially to this team.

WHY IS YOUR TITLE IN ALL CAPS.

The answer you're looking for: they'll pay them the maximum amount allowed if those guys choose Houston.

The NBA is not a free market, you are not allowed to just pay a free agent whatever you want. You can't goto Lebron and say: "Hey Lebron, I'll give you 40 million a year for 10 years." The collective bargaining agreement prevents teams from doing stuff like that.

As for exactly what the maximum amount is, goto the link I posted above and study it. As a businessman, you should know the rules of the game before you play.

Well, as I recall, Shaquille O'neal signed a contract with the Miami Heat that payed him a FLAT $20,000,000 per season every season for the duration of his contract. He was offered more but accepted the $20,000,000. So don't come to me and tell me to learn the rules. Dick!

That's because he was already making more than 20 mil. You can offer a player a raise of 10.5% on his previous salary, that's in the rules as well.

I'm reporting you to the crew, this was a terrible thread full of ignorance in the first place, when I tried to help you by answering your question, you insult me.

There are rules so he was right to say you should know them before you bring up this question. Im pretty sure the team that can offer Lebron the most money and years in a max deal is the Cavs. Same goes for Wade and the Heat. Basically the league has it set up where there is incentive to resign with your team. Everyone else trying to sign them can only offer the max amount in a contract and then its up to the player to decide which team to pick.

For example, the Knicks are going to offer Lebron the full amount allowable. Every other team other then the Cavs, Houston included, could only match that amount if it had the cap space. Of course teams are going to offer Lebron the full max contract and he isnt going to sign for less to come to Houston. So it doesnt matter what you think the Rox should pay him, he will get a max contract.

As for Shaq, players who signed contracts earlier have different guidelines in max salary per season because their original contract was signed during a previous CBA. Thats why although Yao and Tmac are both signed to max deals, Tmacs final season is much higher then Yao's.

Well learn how to write in a non instigating way. Telling someone to learn the rules before they write is a slap in the face and you need to learn that that kind of insult is not acceptable. State the rules don't be a jerk about it.

Even if we let T-Mac walk (which we will if he isn't traded), The Rockets won't have the $$$ to sign a max deal. Keep in mind that Morey still has to resign existing players.

The only players I'd give max money for max years are LeBron and Wade because I believe these two along with Kobe and Paul are the only players in the league worthy of a max contract. I wouldn't offer Bosh or Amare more than 10 million a year. Dirk is possibly the last player I want to see on the Rockets. Boozer is not a big enough upgrade over Scola to throw all the cap space away. Joe Johnson - 10 to 12 million. But, as it has been stated before, we don't have the cap space so this is irrelevant.

We can't get any of them. None of them will sign with us through free agency. We just have to trade for them. Even reshard lewis didnt want to sign with his hometown and ditch out for that max contract.

Every single one of those players will get big contracts and the Rockets will be unable to get anyone of them.

We might be fooling ourselves if we believe that the "big players" such as Lebron, Wade and even Bosh would choose the Rockets next year. There are many factors and sad to say that the team's performance would be one of them. if this team can overachieve then there is a chance. If not, like most people are saying then.... :(
