It's all good. There's talk up here that Vick will be the one to inherit the "I Love The Thuglife" seat on the Cowboys' bench currently being kept warm by one PacMan (call me Adam, PLEASE) Jones.
Let me just say this. In nfl street 1 AND 2, Vick led my team to victory roughly 78% of the time. I rarely passed the ball and simply ran in most of my TD's. Why am I saying this? Because it can happen in real life too. Sign Vick.
Actually, I would. If he is even eligible to play then that means he has served his debt to society and to the NFL. Our system says that guys should be given second chances once they pay their debts. I can understand not wanting to give a killer or a rapist a second chance, but that isn't the case here. The NFL has tons of dudes playing that have done a lot worse than kill some dogs, so it would make no sense to blackball him for that. With all that being said, I doubt McNair would give him a shot.
The funny this is when people make a comparioson Pacman to Vick. Adam got arested 8 times in his proffesional career Vick had 2 incidents one with the dogs and another with the water bottle.
No, he's done. He's almost 30, he won't be running around like when he was 25. And his throwing sucked. So what do you have here?
Ricky Williams isn't nearly as good as when he was 25. But, I see your point. The difference is Vick is a QB. Even if he can still run a bit, his throwing most likely got worse.
i continue to be mystified more people aren't suggesting he become a running back. look at his rushing statistics - they're absolutely, positively *sick*. sick, sick, sick. he averaged 7.3 yards/carry. 7.3! that ranks first overall all-time and leads second place by nearly a yard. he lacks the overall carries, of course, but one could argue vick was one of the greatest rushers in nfl history. and he can't throw! this seems like such a no-brainer. and at 6', 215" (in his playing days; it's the same weight as AP), he's ideal size without a ton of tread on the tires. if he signs with NE, which is the team i've read most often, i think bellicheck is smart enough to recognize this and we'll see him in their backfield: they don't have a RB and they're not going to take snaps away from brady so vick can run some basterdized form of the wildcat. and he'd still be a threat to pull up and toss a few as a RB.... i mean, it makes SO much sense.
Don't you guys think Vick would be hurt 90% of the time if we was taking his rushes in a pre-set fashion? I have no idea how well he can catch the ball but maybe his prospect are better at wide out? I am of the opinion that his incredible YPC avg. is almost exclusively due to his ability to only rush when there is a viable gap. I would venture to say that most NFL running backs could rush for more than that if they were taking snaps under center and throwing the ball 2 out of 3 times. Who has successfully transitioned from QB to RB in the NFL?
he's the same weight - but 3 inches taller - than steve slaton. he's just 2 pounds lighter than adrian peterson. he missed 11 games in 2003 (i don't recall why - blew his knee out?). otherwise, after his rookie season, he played 15, 15, 15 and 16 games. he obviously wouldn't be an every down back - but who is these days? team him with a brandon jacobs-type...... here are the career leaders for rushing yards/attempt (all QBs, btw): 1. Michael Vick 7.3 2. Bobby Douglass 6.5 3. Randall Cunningham 4. Greg Landry 6.2 5. Steve Young 5.9 6. Donovan McNabb 5.8 i don't obviously think he'd average 7 yards a carry as a RB - but he's leading the guy in second place by nearly a full yard - that's unreal! we're talking about one of the greatest rushers in the entire history of the nfl being moved to RB. i think vick could, in theory, be a devestating presence in a backfield.
Orvlovsky is the backup now not Sage...he's at Minnesota. I know Vick is better than Dan "3rd String for the Lions" Orlovsky. I say take him if he's cheap
