Honestly, things didn't get interesting until the Yao-Mac error. The Steve Francis show wasn't nerve racking as it was frustrating.

The Spurs series was weird because the road team won the first 5 games before the Rockets closed it out at home. The Spurs had the league best record, though, and went 5-1 against the Rockets in the regular season series. I remember media types screeching that the Spurs were so good the Rockets had no business even thinking they could share the floor with them (haha!). In that sense, this series is a bit like that one was - the Rockets up against a juggernaut.

It was a rollercoaster that probably took 5 years off my life. Especially that 2nd title run. 5 elimination games in the first 2 rounds alone! And blowing the 2-0 lead to the Spurs coming home only to win Game 5 on the road and close them out at The Summit in Game 6.

This is nerve wracking, don't get me wrong. But odds are if the Rockets win this series, it'll be the only suspenseful round in their entire 2018 postseason run. The first and second titles were not like that at all.

The Clutch City run inspired this commercial that sums up that era...

Not to nitpick, but that isn't true. The Rockets had several leads in the 2nd half. They led by one with only a few seconds left before KJ went to the line where he'd made something like 20 out of 20. He then went 1 of 2 and finally missed one which left the game tied. At that moment, I kinda knew the Rockets were gonna win that game. I just had no idea that it would be with an Elie 3-pointer(especially with so much time left on the clock).

There's a reason the Mario Elie kiss of death 3 is so epic.

    BECAUSE IT WAS SO TENSE

Finally a good thread.. and yes.. during the glory years the losses were heart wrenching and the wins were pure ecstasy.

Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!

Hakeem was there tonight. He’s the true Zen master holding the space for his houston rockets. I gotta give props to Harden not making this game about himself. That was a defining moment I think when he passed up the 3. He was clearly looking to get others involved tonight. That’s gonna have his team get behind him the rest of the way. Lay up drills for the rent ore Team.

Weird coincidence. That Game 4 also had a final score of 95-92 and tied the Western Conference Finals at 2-2. Thankfully this time around we're heading back home and not to the Delta Center.

Yeah, it was rough. Don't know why, but I still have the original Choke City paper.

This is exactly what it felt like in the 90s:

I thought the Suns series was going to be the death of me.

It's strange...at the beginning of this series I was rather calm, just enjoying the ride. Tonight was just a different animal entirely. I believe in this team...but your head tries to tell you that the Warriors are just too good...and after the 0-12 start of the game, I'm sure others will tell you as well that we were in for a rough night.

But when this team started coming back...and were diving on the ground, doing everything they could to stay with Golden State...I just wanted it so badly for them.
