I'll play. The Caberet Voltaire video just gave me the tingling feeling you get when you know you are about to eat x or acid. Weird.

You mean off of W. Alabama in the Galleria (Near Westheimer) It was also called R&R at one time before Roxy and was more of a Rock Venue.

No, that one came later, this was the club that was New Wave BEFORE Numbers 2 even opened.

It was inside the loop on Westheimer, just past the Jack n the Box on the same side of the street.....

I got my car stolen from there one night.....but it was an awesome club.....

I was going there in 1983-85......then it closed down...it was in a strip mall.....

    Which one?

Not the new one by the Gallaria, but the small one inside the loop on Westheimer....if you are coming from the Gallaria it was on the left hand side about a block and a half up from the Jack in the Box.....

I used to come back from SWT to go there in 1984 in it's last days....it was back when New Wave was just getting going.......

    That place was awesome.....

I think it closed down in the Spring of 1984....

I can remember it was 19 years old to drink and I had a buddy named Scott McIntyre who was old enough, so I got one of his driver's licenses, and cut up mine to get the picture....

I took them both apart, and then a girl I knew was working at Baytown Lee in the School ID department, the lamination machine was the exact same size as the Driver's license machine, so I had her laminate my Scott ID, and was going to the Roxy when I was 18......

I remember on my 19th birthday, I handed the door guy my ID, and he was like...."Hey Scott, then saw my name and started laughing and said....Hey Eric"...go on in.....

    LOL - I was a regular there...Thur-Sunday.......great times.....great music....

I think you're just really old, DaDa. :p

I was going to these clubs in high school, drinking with my god awful fake ID I got at some flea market in Pasadena. Pink Elephant or something.

The one down on Westheimer with the glitzy entrance -- late 80's early 90's.

DD what were some of the other clubs you were going to? Between 86 and 90 there were several clubs that I used to go to. Numbers, Energy, Power Tools, Mecca, Fizz to name a few. But we seemed to always end up at Numbers on Saturday night.

    I remember it.

Not exactly..."new wave" started almost simultaneously to "punk." The term may not have existed until much later, but bands like DEVO were releasing music that would later be labeled "new wave" in 1974.

Power Tools was a big spot for us - we'd meet on a empty parking garage next to an abandoned building and throw down then walk over to PT. We'd have full on parties on that garage sometimes with 100+ people up there and never got busted or hassled once. Thursdays was the night for us at Numbers - then on to Lizard Lounge. I guess around 89ish/ 90 we started hitting Emo's and Lola's.

Emo's was insane back in the day.

For those interested, there's a whole community of people that reminisce about and collect music from this time period on multiply.com. Here is a good place to start:

*** Turn Down Your Speakers if at Work ***http://djrage70.multiply.com/

This guy has a 6400 mix from 93Q. If you dig around in his contacts and then dig around in other people's contacts you will find many others who have also posted live mixes.

I went there one time, but preferred Rich's and #s and Power Tools. In highschool, I was lucky enough to have a cool older brother who looked just like me and was willing to just give me his driver's license and get a new one.

    That's brotherly love.

#'s still does 80's night every Friday, and Wes still plays all of these great classics. I used to go there nearly every weekend my senior year of high school (1996-97). I still make it out there on Friday's at least once every couple of months. It's EXACTLY the same as it was then, and that's why I love #'s. Terrible bathrooms and all. :)

    A funny story from 6400...

My friend walked out of the bathroom and was headed over to the group and he saw this guy he knows and yells 'HEY' or whatever. The dude gestures and my buddy starts walking towards him and raises his hand to give him a high five. The guy raises his hand and about that time my friend says, "NO WAY WE'RE WEARING THE SAME SHIRT" -- then he launches a high five and BOOM...

he walks into one of the big mirrors in the club

    kids: say nope to dope
