I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to stand during a concert. If you want to chill, go home. However, there are some things typically associated with rock shows that should be banned: First, I think there should be a rule against singing along with the band at the top of your lungs with no concept of key or pitch. I go to shows to hear the band play music, not some out-of-tune loser try to karaoke along. Also, why do people insist on yelling crap like "AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!! RAWK N RAWL!!!!" or "EEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!" during the QUIET parts of a song. When a band plays a quiet part, it's to create a mood, not to encourage audience participation. Save the screaming for the breaks between the songs. Finally, if you're the only person trying to slam dance/mosh, you're at the wrong show. Go there or give it up.
That happened to me as well at the Summit on the last Rush tour. Everyone in front of me was standing. We were on lower prom on the side of Alex in the first 7 rows(very good seats). I wanted to see the band and everyone in front of me was standing so I was standing. This stupid ass chick behind me told me to sit down cause she couldn't see. I told her I didn't pay $110 for these seats so I could sit and not see or enjoy the show just because she doesn't want to stand. That is NOT MY F**KING PROBLEM. She obviously was a lame excuse for a Rush fan. They should have wheeled her butt over to the handicap zone for all I care. She was just being lame and stupid. People in front of me were standing. What THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? MISS THE SHOW? Unfortunately, though, if your the only one standing and people in front of you are not standing, then you don't have much choice but to sit down or get yelled at. It's the crowd who kind of dictates whether to sit or stand. Sure, you can go your rogue way and do whatever but be prepared for the backlash. Since a lot of the Rush fans only like their older material, they would rather sit for any songs which were produced during or after the Signals album. They will stand for older songs sometimes if their up for it(old age). Crowds at Rush either take a laid back sit down approach or really get into it. Sounds like you got the sit down crowd. In the end, it is your right but you better be big or prepared to whoop some ass if people start making threats. Now, if you were on the first row, then if your sitting down your a lamer. I was hoping to go to the Dallas show this evening. However, it doesn't look like I'm going. Sucks for me considering this is my favorite band. Surf
Did you offer to switch seats? Then they could sit down in front of you and you could stand with people sitting down in front of you and have an unobstructed view.
