sorry to start a new thread i dont know where to post this on Hoopshype frontpage i thought it was not possible to amnesty a player who was not on your roster when the rule was created, is it possible ?
This is were the CBA failed, I think it was bill simmonds who suggested it but teams should either of not been able to amnesty anyone or they should of had the option to trade their amnesty like they do with a trade exception. The fail in the article is that the player has to be signed from the old cba with your team to be eliagble
NBA "journalism" at its finest. Boston Globe may have reported it, but probably got its 'sources' from a troll in the front office wanting to fk with people. Still, if you're reporting this as "news" to the world, at least know what the amnesty provision even IS.
Knicks can't amnesty Stoudemire (see: Billups, Chauncey) Even if Amar'e is traded, his new team can't amnesty him.
amare's contract is 100% NOT insured. no team will take it. also, the whole team comes off the books in 2015, they wont waste their cap space on eric gordon or any other player short of a superstar, which they dont have the trade assets to acquire, so its a moot point. amare will stay on the team until he's a free agent.
Yup, it rewards bad management without rewarding good management. Imagine what we could do if we could have traded our amnesty (instead of using it on Scola)?
