No Al Jefferson, no Rashad McCants, this is not the really Twovles, but Yao played about 30 minutes tonight, only 2 mins less than average level this season. Adelman should let Yao have much time rest, he caught flu this week, in addition, the next games are hard and important to us SA and Utah. We need Yao badly in playoffs, he can help Rox break the 1st round. Do you agree?
No. As close as the playoff race is, we had to make sure we weren't going to blow a trap game like Minnesota. 30 minutes isn't going to kill anyone. Since we cemented this win, we have a chance to take #2 from the Spurs on Sunday. I don't regret it in the slightest.
playing colins, love and craig smith for 30 minutes isn't much of an effort for yao. he can do much better than that, easily.
30 minutes isn't a lot for a guy who wasn't in foul trouble, and remember we're lacking in front court depth with Landry out. I don't have a problem with it.
We can't afford to lose a game given the tightness of the playoff race and the number of games remaining. Yao played long enough to put the game away, and then sat the entire 4th quarter. his time, IMO, was perfectly managed.
30 mins tonight isn't much, but the season is undoubtedly long and Yao doesn't have great stamina so I feel the question is a valid one. Deke is solid for his age,RA should have given him some more minutes since he re-joined us but we would have been better off with a younger backup 5 with some experience. That's something management needs to address over the off season. Yao needs to keep on playing big minutes for the rest of the season,we don't have any other choice.
Sometimes you have to watch the games before you start new threads. Yao did not look winded at all. ANd Adelman plays Yao much different than Van Dummy did. You don't see Yao switching on PG's and chasing them around the court. You don't see Yao running up the court on fastbreaks as much. And you see Yao on offensive free throws most of the tme Yao just waits on the defensive end. These are all implemented to give Yao more rest and they mostly work. Yao has a hard time with back to backs especially when the second is on the road. But with a days rest Yao seems fine unless his being playing 38 minutes for 4 out of 5 games previously.
Yao played 30 min, and if I recall right none in the 4th quarter. Seems to me even if the game was close towards the end he would have only logged 35 minutes tops. I got no problem with the way his minutes went tonight. As even Yao has said before, its not the game minutes that wore him down the previous years, it was the practices. They started working on that last year I believe.
RA should trust his other players more, we can win this game without Yao! Though 30mins isnot too much, RA should rest Yao the whole game, like how Popovich rest Duncan
30 mins is ok? why so many of you thnk this is all right? We all know Twolves is not so good this season, also I still remember rox want to tmac and ron to share yao's burden, but now, tmac is out this season, although ron is well done, we still need yao badly, any body remember yao was out when we visit NO, what we won that game by? defence not offense
You're taking the statistic of 30 minutes out of context. These were not 30 difficult/tough minutes. Rather, these were 30 minutes of jogging up and down the court with occasional jump hooks while being defended by sub-par defenders who lacked height and agility. To criticize Adelman's use of Yao's minutes would simply be nitpicking and a waste of time.
Yao Ming has played an average of 33 minutes in his games this year. Considering last year this was a solid 37 (Tmac had 37, Battier had 36)... you can't complain. You just can't. Artest plays an average of 35 minutes a game. Again, compared to the 37,37,36 minute averages of our top 3 guys last year, you can't complain. What do you want the guy to do? Pop is a good comparison, but you have the numbers wrong. Tim Duncan averages 34.6 minutes a game, more than Yao. Parker has 33.9 a game, again more than Yao. Now... you can make the argument that considering the injuries to the Spurs that they've had to do this to stay afloat. But you can also make that argument for the Rockets. Yao doesn't need less time. He actually should start averaging about 36 a game. Its getting towards the end of the season and we're in a playoff race. A loss could be the difference between 2nd and 5th. You can't suddenly go "we need to rest our guys for the playoffs" when you are 2 losses out of 7th seed.
