According to hoopshype.com for 2006/7 the Rockets payroll is 30.8 mil, which in cludes a team option (4.5 mil for Moochie) that probabaly won't be picked up. This doesn't include Head's salary, but that said how are we over the salary cap even if we sign Yao to a long term deal? What am I missing?

Yes, but we can give the player option where as the Lakers have the team option, it would looks real "even" then.

I didn't realize player options had to be in the last year. I looked up ETOs in the Coon FAQ, and saw the restriction.

I also didn't realize an Early bird deal could end up being as much as $69 mil over six years. That puts my concern of being possibly outbid to bed.
