The NBA players union is better prepared this time around. They have encouraged players to save money and they may also handle a portion of the salaries during the strike. If the lockout lasts longer this time around, the whole season could be cancelled. As far as the draft being shallow, some draft picks came out early in 2010 instead of 2011 as one and done players. Many of these picks wanted to get paid in 2010 instead of risking a lockout or cancellation in 2011. However, their stock would have been higher in 2011, because of less competition from 2nd/3rd year players. The potential 2011 lockout doesn't affect the players that were in highschool, since they couldn't be drafted anyway.
Thanks. I read this before but I didn't fully understand/notice the problem of waiting for the next season: most likely not being able to re-sign our expirings, apart from CBA uncertainty. It really does mean that one of our core players of Yao, Shane, Aaron (maybe Chuck) may not be coming back next year or even staying past February. (omitting Jeffries) This plus our record paints a really bleak picture, pointing firmly towards rebuilding
