610 - Like everyone else here, I think Rich Lord sucks donkey and pig balls... while Matt Jackson is talented, but not quite able to carry a show solo. Also the morning show is weak, but Adam Clanton redeems the AM hours.

790 - Charlie P is of course the most knowledgeable guy in Houston radio, however he is a smarmy douche and it comes off in how he talks to callers, still required listening. John Lopez is like Rich Lord, only dumber, but nicer... Ted D is good, but man is he drowning next to that turd Lopez.

1560 - Honestly I listen to them the least, but its obvious it is more "home grown". John and Lance have a strong following for a reason, but the rest is totally forgettable and in many cases regrettable. I hope they survive long enough to get it together 100%... because they have potential.

    97.5 - Turrible.

Whatever you say, tuff girl. Nice to hear a broadcasting pro whine about hating headphones today - becuz they mess up what's left of ur hair. Also neat to read your mom, fiancee and closet boyfriends defend you here. What professional broadcaster spends time on message boards? None - but many unprofessional twits do. Find a new profession - hair stylist seems to fit your nature.

They're all pretty decent really... but some would work better with different pairings.

610 - Matt J and Wex work well. Wexler's a young Charlie P and brings out the best in Matt. Rich doesn't. Clanton is too much "I..I...I" but most people are when they just start out. Impressions are pretty good but it's too much sometimes. I think Clanton would be better on TV. Wex is by far the best here and 2nd best in market hands down.

790 - Charlie P. Best. Period. knowledge sports and respectful opinion. Charlie is tops! Monsters get ya thru the day - pretty good. I will hand it to them - they TALK SPORTS! You might not like them but they TALK SPORTS!

1560 - Schtick radio really but once Lance gets going on a topic he's right up there, really good and knows his stuff. Has good sources and can 'SEE' things the way only Wexler can. Charlie's knowledge makes up for his inability to 'see' things. John can be good - unique style. Together they do have chemistry.

    IMO... :D

dude i totally agree with you about j lopez.. i cant stand that guy..and charlie is the best sports mind, but he is too hard on houston sports..must be the yankee in him...i like 610 morning show, and clanton is funny. i only listen to the monsters becuz i HATE jim rome...ughhh...but i do think 610 is better overall...and 1560 dosent come in worth a damn so i never listen to that...but i used to be a big john and lance fan back in the 610 days

Ive been a 1560 convert for about as long as they've been around, and it's a welcome change from the crap they're pumping out at 610. I'll tune in for Texans/Rockets pre/post games but that's about it. John and Lance in the mornings get me laughing on the way to school/work (i need that). I'm honestly impressed with how much better Nuno has gotten now that he has his own show. And Sean & John are great... I don't mind the college football, because it's really an all-encompassing show if you listen. Just listen to the Game 7 and you'll kinda have an idea of whats going on. Not to mention, live spots at Nick's place on Fridays are worth it if you can make it out just once. I may be a fanboy, but I have no problem with that.

As far as weekends, Del Odelay or whatever the heck his name is has a Houston sports talk show on Saturdays (maybe Sundays too) that I just discovered. Local sports talk on the weekend is something you couldn't previously find in Houston, so props to 1560 for hooking that up.

Whoa. I'm not a fan of trashing people but Wexler is FAR too monotone to be on radio. I'm sure he's heard he needs "range" or "influxion" but it would be required.

*****, "MARC" Venderbeek has a crappy radio voice, and I've said that you find "LOCAL" talent to find "passion."

Vanderbeek will sell himself to the highest bidder. You guys figure out that analogy.

Never sell yourself out. If you're good enough, your team will figure it out.

I see where you're coming from but the whole over the top, funny, banter, witty shows just aren't for me. Also, I don't like being told what's going on, I KNOW what's going on---I read the same papers they do. I like guys with 'insight' ---people who can predict and hypothesize as to what's coming or what might come or what would work well, etc...

I love Charlie P. and he does tear up our teams, at times but they need to be (ASTROS!!! Pitch the KIDS for goodness sake! Cut Hampy and Ortiz...am I on crazy pills?) torn up from time to time.

IMHO, besides Charlie P., if I were stranded on an island with 1 Houston radio sports guy, it would be the Wexler guy without question....wait...that sounded a bit too romantic, didn't it? Well, at least he could 'talk to me' about Houston sports as I fall asleep.

"There ya go, Doc...Astros are pitching the kids...Texans are blitzing with Barwin and Smith is moving inside to DT...there ya go...nighty-night...Yao Ming is going to be fine...and the Rockets got Bosh.....and goodnight.

    "ZZZzzzzz nighhhhht Wexxxxxxxx" :D LOL

Mohr is yet more unlisten-to-able than Rome. Yet, he (and they are) is popular?

The John and Lance show is hilarious, but individually, John doesn't know what he's talking about 90% of the time and Lance is pretty good. Not only are his impressions and humor pretty good, but dude knows his stuff.

Nuno (and Raheel) have gotten a lot better (or I just accepted them)- they can talk sports and they know what they are talking about

Sean and John- worst show, by far, on 1560. When John wasn't there for a while, Sean was straight up trying to copy Jim Rome (poorly)- I couldn't listen to it for more than 2 minutes. Only thing they can talk about is college football, which is only cool IF ITS FOOTBALL SEASON. Hearing them talk about basketball or baseball is a joke- they have no idea what they are talking about. I thought they were okay in the beginning but its gotten worse as time has gone on.
