this guy has the sickest moves of all, IMO <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pwlOsBmanH0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pwlOsBmanH0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I wouldn't say Jabba is way better....maybe, they might not even be as good as QC. And more marketable? Well based upon most of your posts, this could be taken in a couple of extreme ways I suppose.
I don't mean to derail the thread so I will be leaving, but I came in here hoping to get a better understanding of why ABDC and these dancers are so popular. I went to the Powerhouse concert the year the Jabba squad won the first ABDC. Powerhouse is an annual concert by a LA rap radio station (Power 106) and it was headlined by Ice Cube and the Game which is why I went. After the first two acts, they brought Jabba squad out and they were doing some moves and it was the most boring thing in the world. I also remember in undergrad, I would be walking to the basketball courts at night to shoot hoops and at the entrance, there would be dance crews like this practicing. And I never understood why they were practicing, but ABDC I guess gives them some reason to practice now.
This is obviously Clutchfan noob territory. Everyone had 1 tiny square of REP until YOU showed up.
When you think of ABDC,the first thing that pops up is the mask. Most people who are not really avid followers of the show will know who Jabba is but not what Quest is. Thats what I meant by more marketable. Same with basketball. People who don't follow basketball will know who Lebron is. But they might not know who Aaron Brooks or Mo Williams is.
Hahah...havent seen the "ball grab" move (12 second mark) since the last time i drove through Montrose
This is pretty close to how I see it. The show is my guilty pleasure, and damn better than American Idol. There are women on it too. The last challenge episode (prior to the finale) of season 3 had the two best performances ever in ABDC imo. Quest just killed it: got standing ovations from all judges and the crowd was chanting for them even when the other crews finished performing. And the thing about the final challenge episodes at the end of every season is that they're usually the worst imo because the tasks are so difficult. Each week, every crew only has to perform one task, and then they get a bunch of free time to show off their own personalities and creativeness. But when it comes to the final challenge episode, it's usually like 6 tasks/dance styles and it somewhat makes all the dance crews dance similarly and most of the time, boringly. Quest was able to dictate the challenge instead of having the challenge control them. My favorite Quest performance (the 2nd performance of that episode): <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4KIGpiPzYNk&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4KIGpiPzYNk&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
agree with some comments about QUest is more acrobatic than Jabba which they are. I think they are pretty close. Jabba is definitely more in sync with each other while Quest is a bit more sloppy. But overall they both have their strengths and weaknesses. I think outside of these two crews the rest all suck. Especially the girl crew and this years winners are entertaining but not that talented.
