Sucks about Quessenberry, I was expecting him to eventually put an end to the either or both the Cody White/Andrew Gardner experiment that has been wasting 2 rosters spots since last year (although Gardner has been with us since 2011 so it is longer) and eventually probably be our LG should we not retain Wade Smith. Shame is that the two drafted offensive linemen won't even see the practice field outside of preseason and many were expecting B. Williams and Quessenberry to be competing for the RT and LG positions respectively. I believe that was the case, after finally getting past the physical he had some sort of ankle sprain.
This is a serious bummer. I guess we just have to tell ourselves that we get an extra 6th round pick next year.
Were there any OL veteran cuts from other teams that we might pick up? Would be nice to find a guy with average skill who got cut due to a bloated contract.
draft was a bust except for hopkins and swearinger. the undrafted FA seemed like a better group of kids
Too early to say that. Remember the Brandon Brooks affair last year? Overweight, now starting. Patience is a virtue.
Don't really need one for the cost, Harris is still good at swing tackle duties, Wade Smith's injury isn't that bad and Ben Jones can play both guard positions (not great but solidly), Quessenberry was more insurance that we don't have to turn to our less reputable project/practice offensive linemen like Gardner and White should something critical go down. They brought back one of the offensive linemen we had in camp to the practice squad and cut Mohamed. Shame that Mohamed guy seemed to be a real good ILB and lead the 3rd/4th units in preseason well.
David Quessenberry, Brennan Williams undergo surgery Two rookie offensive linemen, David Quessenberry and Brennan Williams, had surgery Wednesday, according to head coach Gary Kubiak. Quessenberry, the sixth round pick from San Jose State, broke his foot in practice following the preseason win at Dallas. Quessenberry’s versatility on the line afforded him more reps in the offseason. He took reps at both tackle and guard behind the starters. “It was the first day we came back,” Kubiak said. “Monday we’re in a drill, he comes off the ball and didn’t even get touched, just stuck his foot in the ground to run and broke his foot. So he had surgery yesterday. He and Brennan Williams had surgery yesterday. They’re both doing fine and we are kind of in an evaluation process right now with Ques seeing how long will it take. Is there a possibility he makes it back, does he not make it back?" Brennan Williams, a North Carolina third-round pick, suffered a microfracture in his knee. Williams was dealing with a knee injury he suffered on May 11, the second day of rookie minicamp. Williams did return near the end of camp, but suffered swelling again after the game at Dallas. Kubiak mentioned that the latest injury looked “more extensive” than the previous one. "(DE) Antonio (Smith) comes back next week, a lot of things going on that could happen with that roster spot next week,” Kubiak said. With Antonio Smith on the inactive/suspended list, the team can keep an extra starter on the roster. Brennan Williams was already placed on injured reserve on August 31, when the 53-man roster was released. For now, Quessenberry is on the active roster while the team evaluates his recovery time. According to league policy, each team can designate one player on IR to return during the season. The designation must be made at the time the player is placed on IR. If Quessenberry can return sooner than expected, he could be a candidate for the IR designation to return
