no, taping was only delayed because Gandolfini held out for more money. Even then the taping wasn't delayed very long. They always take their sweet time when they film the new season.
For those of you who have mentioned having not seen it and being big fans of other Mob related entertainment, The Sopranos is an entirely different animal. You should really give it a chance. Watch a couple episodes of season 1. If you don't like it, you've lost a couple hours of your life that you will never get back. If you do like/love it, you will have 60+ hours of bliss ahead of you.
That was the story, but was it the complete story? I've seen where that was just a smoke screen because of his other problems.
didn't JG play a gay mafia guy in The Mexican? i've never seen an episode of The Sopranos either and I do have HBO. But now they supposedly had a storyline about a gay mafia guy this past season. Was that plotline any good?
OK, OK, OK. I'll give it a shot. This bbs has yet to let me down. One of these weekends, I'll just rent Season 1 and give it a shot. It's just that I'm very stubborn when it comes to shows that "everyone else is talking about".
You won't be disappointed. I'm a huge fan of movies about the Mob, and I'm a Sopranos junkie. Sure, sometimes there's an episode when you sit there, with your mouth open, and mutter, "Why in the hell did they do that??", but not often. The kinky stuff is just some added spice to one of the best series ever to grace the small screen. (clichés free of charge- )
Sopranos is a great show that just doesn't hold my interest. I definitely recognize it as one of the best shows on TV. It's as good as Six Feet Under which I love. I just don't find the mafia all that interesting or compelling. I didn't care for the Godfather series either, although I recognize them as being great films.
Yes, Gandolfini was a gay mobster in The Mexican. WARNING - POSSIBLE SOPRANOS SPOILER They never really developed the plot line. Tony Soprano's future son-in-law saw one of the mob guys in a compromising situation with another guy. The mob guy knows that he was spotted by him. The mob guy then asked the future son-in-law to go to a ball game with him, but you were never quite sure of the intent. The FSIL was a bit freaked out by the whole thing, but they haven't touched upon it since and next week is the season finale. At the time the mob guy was spotted by the FSIL, the FSIL was just Soprano's daughter's boyfriend. I got the impression he may have proposed more for protection (if he was Soprano's son-in-law then he wouldn't be "hit" for what he knows) than anything else.
How's this. I'm the biggest "Sopranos" fan on the planet... (to the point of obsession.) But I've never seen the Godfather movies. Go figure.
strange... even still, you'd think you'd want to see the Godfather simply for the amount of times they reference it during a lot of the Sopranos episodes. So, you could never appreciate Sylvio Dante's impressions of Al Pacino, huh?
Well, I know the gist of the movies and I've heard enough quotes to have a basic understanding of references to horses heads, driving through a tollway booth, etc.
