I agree, not close enough to compare. I love both but when Im in the mood for one, the other doesnt fulfill. On a sidenote, Roger Waters The Wall at Toyota Center was one of the best experiences of my life.
While I can agree with some of what is stated here regarding their similarities, I don't agree with the statement. The similarities you point out are not nearly enough to equate the two, in my eyes. That's fine, we disagree at a certain point. I like both, and they are very different beasts by my perspective. As for the other, also true, though bringing up Division Bell is where I stopped playing. I mean, that's not really Floyd, in my opinion, and maybe they got more boring (they did... who doesn't?). I don't see this backing up your point of . Saying they got more boring I could agree with, or at least understand, but portending that post Syd and post DSOTM eras were more catering to psychedelic culture/fans just comes off as blatantly false in many many ways. And Barrett definitely did not get the best deal, depending on what your standards of a good deal are.
What I am getting at, is that Queen (along with ELO to a lesser extent), were a logical progression from what The Beatles were doing in the 1960's. The Barrett era had much more energy and spontaneity. What happened after Gilmour arrived, was considered 1970's Space/Acid Rock, and not the 1960's psychedelia that preceded it.
I like Queen, but Pink Floyd is at a whole different level. The creativity of their music is the epitome of what art is. They were innovators that could not be duplicated. How many groups sound close to them? They are similar to Radiohead, where their style cant be duplicated.
I think Pink Floyd wins but is very close for me. Pink Floyd has more legacy, but not by much. So I think Pink Floyd was better. But since the poll was about, who I like more, I voted for Queen, since they are one of my favorite bands of all-time.
Queen had some damn good music. Pink Floyd was a band that, like the flu, came and went. There is ZERO longevity to wanting to hear that damn music.

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon holds the record for being on the billboard album charts longer than any other album in history. It was on the charts for 741 consecutive weeks.
Hey everybody it's "Pink" and he has just finished doing his "wall" and now he is getting ready to sing "Goodbye Cruel World"!
