    How so?

I strongly suggest that you never go to a Journey board and say the above.

In the end, I guess I am more forgiving. If I want to see Queen songs performed live again, I must accept that FM won't be part of the equation. And Paul Rodgers is one of the great rock vocalists, who still got his chops.

BTW the Queen + Paul Rodgers tour filmed a DVD, which I bought and can highly recommend. The set list including more of the rockier Queen songs, which was fine by me, but not so much from Paul Rodgers's back catalog (which was my only disappointment).

George Michael was the perfect candidate to replace Freddy.... and it turns out he was just as "flaming" all along.

His rendition of "somebody to love" (which he sang with Queen) at the Mercury tribute concert in the 90's was pretty damn good... too bad Michael has fallen so low now in the public eye that nobody would ever consider him for anything.

    here's the video:

    I'm not a Journey fan, so don't worry. :)

I'm a non-professional vocalist myself, and IMO, Freddie Mercury's talents are out of this world. There isn't another voice like his out there. Also IMO, that is really what made Queen stand out.

I really have FM high up on the pedestal, and I must say that he ought to be revered with the very best of opera and aria singers.

Exactly...that is why this is such a bad idea. Nothing against Paul Rodgers, but NO ONE can fill Freddie Mercury's shoes. It is like that lame Doors album they did without Jim Morrison. It tanked pretty quickly. If Brian May and Roger Taylor go through with this and actually release an album with Rodgers and some session guy on bass, the album sales will probably be decent just because of the curiosity factor but I am guessing that the album will be lucky to go platinum and that will probably be the only studio album released by that version of "Queen".

I mean if May, Taylor, and Rodgers are really jonesing that bad to release an album than they should be able to do it. But don't call it a Queen album - doing that shows me that they don't have any confidence in themselves that the album will sell without it having the "Queen" name associated with it.

You know... I think I'll be happy if they just call it "Queen with Paul Rodgers". However, I would find it quite offensive if they were to incorporate Paul Rodgers into Queen.

Well, IIRC, their concert tours have been billed as "Queen + Paul Rodgers".

Dude, if I saw Brian May at a bar, I'd walk over and give him an open mouth kiss.

I'll buy it, but probably won't listen to it much. I never put on "Made In Heaven" or Brian's most recent solo album; I just make a point to purchase every thing he's on.

The album won't be any good, but I'm past the point of expecting more from rock stars. If they want to get into a studio and mess around (May's a freak about that stuff), go get 'em. And I'm sure they're jonesing, because May's put out just two solo albums since early 1993.

He could definitely pull it off quite well as their vocal tone is fairly similar...maybe too similar for people? He did a great job in the video. Also, he is a little poppy...so not sure how he would translate on the harder rock stuff Queen did.

I wonder what his career would look like right now had he not had those personal things get in the way. I remember he tried a comeback and critics were mostly saying it was a shame because he was a "lost" talent that nobody will ever really buy into again.

I love how at first people did not nitce anything remotely gay about Queen. Moustaches / the name Queen / the operatic stuff. Total mainstream embrace of the least-subtle-ly gay deal ever. Sort of like the National Football League.

They freaking rock. Not my cup of tea, but they are awesome. I will root for those guys forever.

And they hid it all with loud hard rocking music.

    Just like Judas Priest.

HA! I remember in High School, we sat around saying "Nah, can't be... they sing about fat-bottomed girls... put on Bohemian Rhapsody again."

Know who would be the perfect singer for a reformed Queen? Mike Patton from Faith No More. That dude has the absolute best vocal range of anyone i've ever heard.

Unfortunately, he seems content now to waste his talents with eclectic, noisy, garbage and experimental crap for the sake of "art" rather than produce any decent sounding music that might possibly be commercially popular.

Longtime, regular fans of Queen won't buy it. And everyone else won't care enough.

There's only one way to really make money off the Queen legacy at this point. If you're going to disgrace the name, might as well go all the way.

    Rockstar: Queen anyone?

    That was pretty good.
