    F**K IT.

I can't believe some of you people.

    Don't you get it?

These s**t for brains will NOT stop. They will continue being criminals until they die or end up in jail.

And you know why? They're not afraid of anything or anybody. They're not afraid of the law. They're not afraid of the law keepers. They're not afraid of jail time. They flat don't give a crap about themselves, you or your property.

And just to counter some of the thoughts here:

Joe Horn is an asset to the community. I hope he doesn't spend one second doing time.

That place was closed 20 years ago. Pasadena is very integrated these days.

Pasadena has grown to a population of about 140K. The south part of Pasadena (the area around where Joe Horn lives) has many upper middle class neighborhoods.

Don't you get it? If you choose to not obey a law, you need to accept the consequences for that decision. Joe Horn broke a law.

Do I think Joe Horn was justified? No.
Do I feel sorry for the criminals? No.
Do I think Joe Horn should be punished? Yes.

Just because I don't sympathize with idiots who get hurt or killed committing crimes does not mean I advocate every gun-toting neighbor of mine starting shooting people in my street.

    See the difference?

Interpetting the law on a case by case basis is why we have jury trials.

The law is not black and white, each case must be held up to the law and see how it fits.

And in some cases the law is wrong.....

It is in those cases that the jury needs to rule against the law.

I disagree with this completely. It goes completely against the rule of law principle. It's not the job of 12 random people to overrule the entire legislative process. If the law is wrong, you still rule with the law. The law should be changed, but we have a process for that.

There are all sorts of draconian measures we can implement if the only goal is to make people safer.

The death penalty makes people feel safer. How do you feel about that again?

Cops makes mistakes too, it doesn't mean you should give up. Bounty hunting is legal and effective, along with many citizens patrol groups such as the Guardian Angels. The people have the power. When you rely on the police, you are screwed.

I got that. I understood that before. Fear leads to anger...which leads to hate...which leads to suffering.

    "That's no moon."

Ok, I know that didn't have anything to do with it, but I just like saying that.

Laws or their makers are not perfect, and can not account for each and every occurance of their breaking.

You have to look at it on a case by case basis, it is NOT black and white, no matter what lawyers or legislatures will tell you.

Vote your consience, in each and every case and use the law as your guide.

Laws are guidelines, not the end all be all...

Hey, no problem for me, I don't like jury duty anyway......but If I was on trial, give me a jury of free thinking adults any day of the week.

You're read instructions. It's rule of law. It's not the place of a lawyer, judge or juror to ignore the law. I understand why you feel that way...but I can tell you from experience it never works out the way you're suggesting.

BTW: the OJ case wasn't ignoring the law...it was ignoring the overwhelming evidence to convict. and that too was a huge miscarriage of justice.

Problem is... As evidenced by this thread Joe Horn is going to have some jurors who don't like to think deeply and only rely on their knee jerk formed opinions of the incident.
