    the rockets will have depth:

    - use the mle for a quality starter or 3rd scoring option
    - resign wesley for cheap as a veteran off the bench
    - draft an athletic wing player with the 8th pick
    - resign bogans as a 10th or 11th man off the bench
    - draft a good shooting 4 with the 32nd pick
    - keep chuck hayes
    - sign a cheap 3rd backup pg

    pg: alston, head, 3rd backup
sg: starter, wesley, 8th pick, bogans
    sf: t-mac, bogans, 8th pick
pf: howard, swift, hayes, 32nd pick
    c: yao, mutombo

Ricky Davis is selfish player, doesn't seem like a Jeff Van Gundy player. McCarty defending people? I don't know about that. I do agree that the Rockets are close. If McGrady and Yao were healthy this year we would have won 50 to 52 games and earned the 5 spot in the west and would have challenged Dallas agian.

I just really think the rockets need to make somekind of big splash this off season not because they are so far away from being the 4 seed but without a maggette or a deng or even a childress they are still a very long way from another banner in the rafters.

please people stop rafer hating he is just as good as jayson williams and the heat got to the finals with him.And look at it this way rafer is equal with williams tracy is equal with d wade yao is better than shaq juwan and stro are equal to haslem and if we had maggette or deng they would be better than walker so we are really just one rock solid peice away!!!

no way we can get maggette and deng, we only have one mle and there is 11 players who are under contract, we cant dump salaries that quick with out giving up picks and good players, such as tmac and yao, which wont happen.

AND I have read and article on espn insider saying that maggette might be dumped for cheap this summer for a player of his caliber and the most potent 1,2,3 punch in the league i would give up our pick and use the mle to fill other needs

wouldnt you agree that it would be insane not to get a guy(maggette) who scored 18ppg in only 29 minutes with a great team attitude for stro and #8?

Sure I do. But we're not getting him for that. Period. Sadly, I still believe in Mike James. Maybe I'm a luniac too. Sigh...

    Quality Depth, no question.

But more to the point...they need more "qaulity STARTERS" which allow our bench players to BE bench players. That alone gives us more depth.

If your bench is Alston, Howard, Swift, Head, Mutombo etc then you are in decent shape. The problem is we are starting Alston, Wesley and Howard and those guys should be coming off the bench.

As I mentioned in another thread, if the Rockets could draft Ronnie Brewer and sign Mike James to the MLE, that would instantly give us 2 starters that would allow us to move some of our former starters to the bench, which in turn would give us the better quality depth we are looking for.

No maggettte doesnt make a boat load of money i think the sura, te, and the #8 will come within 25% of c-mag's salary!
