It’s not even a debate, there’s data to show that.
Hurts in his second year performed worse than Mills with less starts.

And if Mills put up Cousins numbers, he should be the guy.
If Stroud or Young put up those numbers in the league, you would be drooling

Stroud has a stronger arm, is a better athlete, and has way more snaps than Mills has even now. I wouldn’t sell him short so quickly. We don’t know what Stroud or Mills are just yet.

Stroud is most definitely not a better athlete. Arm strength might favor Stroud, but not by much.
Stroud is Dwayne Haskins 2.0. He’s not an athlete by any means, Mills will for sure have better timed numbers

Stroud isn’t athletic. He’s functional, same as Mills.
Stroud might have a slightly stronger arm, Mills has a legitimate arm for the pro level. And we saw last year he was the second best deep ball passer in the league. Stroud has the same ability but he has nowhere near the arm talent of the elite guys in Allen, Mahomes and Rodgers.

I thought CJ was faster than that. Makes sense now why he doesn’t run much. Great arm talent and IQ.

This is why I prefer Young or Levis.
If young was 3 inches taller he’d be the number 1 pick. 5’10 without freak speed like Murray or Wilson is tough. I actually think Young’s arm talent is better than Stroud.
Levis arm talent is Josh Allen-esque

Count me among the Mills doubters. I think he is going to end up being better than his draft position but nothing more than a placeholder or bottom tier starting quarterback. However, I do not want the Texans to burn their first pick on either of the QBs (Young or Stroud) currently projected to be top 5 picks. For my money, Id rather scoop up Will Anderson or Jalen Carter in the top 5 and then use the Cleveland pick (or Cle pick plus assets to move up) to get someone like Richardson, Van Dyke or Levis. In a perfect world the Texans get Anderson with their top pick and then Richardson who would sit behind Mills for a year working with Pep Hamilton. Then trade Mills for draft picks prior to the 2024 draft.

This is my thought process too.

If Mills doesn’t show he’s the guy

I.like that analogy, the only thing I disagree with is the Texans taking Richardson. If Pep is still the OC, I don't see him signing off on Richardson.

Pep prefer pocket passers. If you go back and look at his history, he has only coached pocket passers. But I hope you're right!

Richardson is a Cam clone, if his accuracy improves he could be deadly.

We’ve been through this. Herbert and Luck are no where near “pocket passers”

We'll you should already know they're Pocket Passers. Both are most effective when they operate from the pocket.

This happened with Stafford in Detroit, it seems, he got a few 5,000 yards seasons, but couldnt make it even having Calvin Johnson as a WR, even when they played the Cowboys in the playoffs, he wasnt a factor, now in the Rams got a defense, and people claim he was always elite.
I think that if you swap Cousins with Stafford in the Rams, they would still win the Superbowl last year, because Vikings always had bad defense, and they lost close games becuase of it.

The same with Schaub with the texans, his best years, the defensive was ranked 31st and 32nd of the league, I remember several times, Schaub led a game-winning drive, but the defense blew it away.
I remember one game, Schaub and the offense scored a FG to go ahead, and then Jets led by Mark Sanchez, with 50 seconds on the clock and without timeouts, led a drive for 68 yards, to score a TD.

I could see Richardson being this years Burrow. Not ranked with the other top 2 qbs but then has an insane year and becomes top qb picked. I want him more than stroud or young. I’m an Ohio state fan and their qbs just never translate to NFL. Same with Alabama most of the time, young is like a slightly better Murray. Give me Richardson if we are needing a qb.

Murray is way more athletic than Young.
Richardson and Levis are the two that will pop up. Big, athletic, rocket arms
