Those two players are ranked in the lower 3rd of the Top 10, if at all....they're potential backups. Not saying Jefferson, DJ or Hooker will be stars but they have more starter potential based upon the NFL Draft sites I'm seeing. Why draft another backup?
Hooker, DJ and Jefferson are all back ups as well, and they aren’t top 2 round prospects by most credible sites. McCall and Duggan will rise up boards, McCall was touted as a first rounder but has slipped for no other reason than playing at a small school. Duggan is the best athlete of everyone mentioned. Hooker is not a real prospect. DJ is a project and Jefferson is meh
We'll have to wait and see but I can't even find Duggan on most sites and McCall, like I said earlier, is rated in the lower part of the Top 10. Which equates to backups.
Most sites have Hooker in that range as well. McCall is better than Hooker in literally every facet of the game.
This dude is always going overboard with prospects. Caleb is good but arm is nowhere near Mahomes. Very good athlete though
I like these guys and Hooker later in the draft more than the top 3 guys. But I really like the 2024 QB class enough to wait.
It’s a big 2 at best. I don’t think Drake Maye has shown enough to put him above CJ Stroud or Bryce Young. You still haven’t addressed how the Texans land a top 2 pick in next years draft in a realistic manner.
There's more than one way to skin a cat. I'd have to defer to you guys on some of the less talked about prospects in the draft as I havent really dug in past the top 3-4 guys yet. Either way though I think its safe to say that unless Mills has a transformative turnaround any guy in these talks would offer more hope.
Please try to actually be objective here. He has the edge in size, arm strength(arm talent is more important than raw arm strength though), and I’d give him a draw with Young on mobility, but obviously more mobile than Stroud. The last one you brought up though, production. If we’re going by stats, Stroud has a higher completion percentage, a higher passer rating, and higher yards per attempt than him last year and this year. In every measurable way his production is higher passing the ball. CJ Stroud is often compared to Justin Fields and Dwayne Haskins, but looking at their college stats, he has them beat by a wide margin in all of those same stats as well. Now I personally would prefer someone with more mobility than Stroud, but it might be time for us to admit that the guy is special passing the ball.
Production this year is similar for Stroud and Maye, Maye is also a redshirt Freshman. There are also numbers that Haskins and Fields beat Stroud at. That system and surrounding players (along with a weak conference) is conducive to putting up big numbers. Maye is putting up similar production with minimal talent around him. We can debate production for sure, I get that. But you saying he isn’t a top pick (being projected right now as a top 10) is disingenuous as well. What isn’t debatable is Maye has a much higher physical upside than both Stroud and Young
Also, let’s be real. Maye vs Stroud 69.4 vs 70.6 completion percentage, Maye has him in yards, 9.9 vs 10.9 ypa, 21/3 vs 24/3 td/int and 185 vs 207 rating. Good for 1st and 3rd in the country (with Duggan and McCall being 2 and 4) Stroud has been sacked 4 times Maye has been sacked 14 times. That’s not even mentioning Maye being so much better as a runner.
Is Drake even an option for this draft? I think the convo will shift to Caleb, Drake or Quinn next year. If Caserio decides to wait on QB then those 3 will all be worthy in their own ways.
No he’s not. It’s just more of a discussion on whether you wait or not. I don’t know what the answer is, I personally like Williams, Maye and Ewers more than any of the top 3 in this draft. Some of that is because I would prefer Anderson if we get 1 overall. Stroud is a clean prospect, if he was doing this at any other school he would be one of my favorite prospects (I know that isn’t fair to him)
