I think some fans needs to take a step back and look at the big picture. Yes we have struggled early in the season, but none of this should come as a surprise to anyone. This is the 3rd youngest team in the league, still trying to find the right style of play with a team of talented players with conflicting playing styles. The rockets have played the most games in the nba, including 4 games in 5 days to start the season, and 6 games in back to back situations. With nnly 3 of the 9 teams we played so far have a loosing record. Yet despite the questionable coaching decisions, a failed experiment in playing Asik and Dwight together, hack-a-Dwight, having the 2nd highest TOs in the league, frequent defensive failures, a unhappy center in Asik, awful 3 point shooting from Harden, Parsons, and Beverly, and the inability of some of our players to throw a proper lob to Dwight. We are still at a respectable 6-4, 2 baskets shy of being 8-2. The team will continue to improve throughout the season, not only the players but coaching as well. Lin will continue to flourish in the 6th man role and have steadily improved his 3pt shooting. TJones have really stepped up in the past 2 games. And I have full trust that our front office will bring in a quality player with the imminent Asik trade. So take a step back, relax, and exhale. This is a marathon not a sprint.
Good points. Rockets should easily be 7-2 right now. Lakers game we gave it away. It is early to judge this team. But something is obvious though. Rockets need to upgrade its roster. Asik trade could define the whole season.
The Rockets are 6-4 while being severely bad in 2 areas. One is our 3pt shooting, which has been atrocious. The other is Howard's FT shooting, which has been horrible even by his low standards. Despite this, we're STILL 2 end-of-game 3s away from being 8-2. The team has massive amount of talent. Talent to contend. We're just not putting it together right now. I personally believe that we really can use a Battier/Scola type to help calm the kids when things aren't going well.
even though dwight struggled today against bargnani he showed he kept his head in the game by coming back on the other end with clutch blocks.
Rockets "Fans" here make me sick sometimes, its crazy how quick half of the people here turn on players after a loss. Blamed lin and beverly for one loss, Dwight for another, calling harden a scrub after losing another, lol it blows my mind how quick people will turn on harden especially, even when he's out there putting up 35 points.
I don't think pointing out flaws is such a big issue. I guess to stay relatively sane on this page is both to acknowledge the talent and the good and the flaws, mistakes, the bad. I never heard some calling Harden a scrub, all there was is "Haren without the D" and ISO Master. "Trade Harden for rights to Wiggins"....so on
Exactly. If we plan to contend, why are we signing guys like Covington? We should trade for veterans, and draft ready players maybe with lower ceilings. Veteran Leadership is still needed.
I hope U R kidding, Ausie bro! A playoffs place is a must, and as I see it - also a given (as would be made clear to us all by mid season, I believe). First round home advantage is also very plausible, IMHO. I'm actually "saying we can still make" western finals or even league finals, and who knows - perhaps... By all means - hold me to my word. Here's a bet: I made a contribution to Rockets CF for the first time this week. (18$, for Casspi's number) If we don't make places 1-6 in the west - I shall tripple this into the tip jar. Do I hear a counter bet?
Good points, OP. Just want to point out that this team is still struggling to find identity too. The TT strategy was obviously unsuccessful, and with the current problem regarding Asik probably leaving very soon, whoever Morey gets for him will add some weeks on the timetable for the team to gel 'again'. The font color just gave me a headache.
According to Howard, winning 2 out of 3 games is good so being 6-4 is not that bad...terrible mindset.
More perspective to this season: Rockets are 6-4 Philly is leading their conference with 5-3 while NYK (3-5) and Brooklyn (2-5) (Mind blowing) World Champ Miami 5-3 OKC 5-3 GSW 6-3 Memphis 3-5 Clips 6-3 These are teams that are favored to make a championship run this year (except Philly) The only 2 teams that are playing well at the moment are Pacers and Spurs and most teams are still trying to get their act together and unfortunately, we are on that list. Too early in the season to panic and start blaming or point fingers. IMHO, 20 games is the minimum before we can make any assessment of any team.
