This is very true, a consolidation of powerse and econoimcs is a lot of pressure to deal with. I found it quite laughable as people who blindly believed trumps words about how our "aid" works and why we give millions or billions to these countries, bc we essentially are buying influence, clout, and a seat in the table. You think we give pakistan aid to relaly do altruistic stuff...let alone with their corruption that it even gets to the ground? No, we give ti to them so they have incentive to continue to listen to us, share intelligent, and play ball and support us when we need it publicly. They laughed as we cut ties with allies in geopolitics when the end losers would be us with less leverage and backing to ever attaack china or russia economically....but nothing like a dumbass reality show guy to do algebra with simple mathematics and get cheered on by people who don't get details and intricacies of geopolitics screaming america first, it was always trump first.
I guess what we disagree on is that IMO everything trump had anything to do with in retrospect is shamelessly embarrassing. Unless you think trump's time as president was justified by bringing back jim crow laws, attempting a disorganized coup to retain power on Jan 6th, and turning the republican party into the party of autocrats. I don't understand why he is not in jail or at the very least using all of his time and energies to stay out of jail.
No I think Trump was shamelessly and overtly corrupt and like netanyahu, running a Trump first, or me first campaign fueled of fear and ignorance andthe typical finding a common enemy. I think theres a case for conservative values in govertnment in terms of less centralized unaccountable control, efficiency , fiscal responsibly, he literally stood for nothing and contradicted himself over. If you see his actions as a business man, yes people have gone to jail or less BEFORE he was president. Doesn't also change that a lot of those people who have gone to jail for far far less were feuled by policies biden not just supported, but championed. Meanwhile he asks for compassion for his son who has not gone to prison despite his issues and implemented an out of touch kick out of anyone who admitted to using cannabis even to this day, one that his own VP and president he served wouldn't pass. So I'm just talking actual policy. I don't think trump had a plan beyond his typical reality show rants. Even he has gone on how he thought drain the swamp was stupid but people cheered it and he stuck with it. AFter 2016 he was claiming rigged back then(he does it everytime as insurance) and then at a rally admitted now we dont care that much abotu the rigging bc we won. HEs a con. I get that. but that doesn't change that he was the hold in the pipeline for russia that biden allowed. I'm shocked as he had such a child level style of diplomacy but somehow he stayed out of most wars althoguh he sent troops to help saudi saying they paid him. He had th right aggression towards china, yet as usual no actual depth or content, just talk. Biden however was a cahmpion of the TPP in the 90s that really began taking china over the hill in being able to consolidate debt, geopolitical soft power all over the world that is almost irreversible . So this isn't an either or. Thats the problem with the news as they make it a binary thing. Uncle joe has had a terrible track record of decision making, holding him accountable has nothing to do with also holding the last terrible president accountable. I don't get why people can't do both. Its ok to say Trump was a con, I get that. Its ok to say biden has a terrible history and needs to be watched. You don't grind out in our political system and comeaway without some ties
Wtf are you blabbering about . Biden was the one in 2005 who regretted the Iraq war shortly after and in 2010 he was the only one in the white house telling Obama not to send a surge of troops in Afghanistan. Biden knows when a situation is wrong and isn't afraid to pivot. He also told Obama that he let putin walk all over him over Crimea
I'm talking about his history as an executive decision maker. Go back to IRaq. He championed the war and the 'weapons of mass destruction'...ok ok, everyone did? Go back to the 90s. He has been a hawk towards bombing both iraq and afghanistan, bosnia, you name it he supported it. Its real rich to say I was wrong after trillions of dollars, millions of lives lost Do I think he is an evil character? No I think after such costly decisions maybe we can use his 'experience' and steady hand on a cabinet or as an advisor rather than the final decision maker. This goes further to tpp and economic decision. This goes further to his criminal justice system which he always wants to change back . His hypocrisy where in 2020 he still said we need to do research if marijuan is a gateway drug before we legalize. And thats exactly not the point. Its an econoimc matter...we spend 100s of billions on DEA enforcement for something akin to alcohol. Waste of tax payer money, waste of officer time, imagine how mcuh better our police community relations would be if they weren't directed to do something as in chase down people with alcohol and send em to jail. This funds two thingsrivate prison, prison labor, and most importantly gangs who have their large funding cut when a state legalizes it and all of a sudden the state sees tax beneifts. Then the immoral part, something 3/4 presidents have laughed about trying yet were able to move on to their potential, we have people who are nonviolent jailed daily. Families and communities totally thrown off if someone close in your life is in jail. We lose their tax potential, isntead we pay 30-80k PER person. With all teh complications of legalziation, its a no brainer to atleast decriminalize as a federal level. You don't have to 'smoke' to see how absurd and crippling these policies are. Obama should've done it with his first hand experience, as should've clinton and bush, likewise with turmp and now with public knowledge and support at a high, we still have biden asking for compassion for his cocaine son yet doesn't extend the same eto his own staff even. The benefit of biden is ideally he can be influenced, but the people on his team like neera tanden and the age old dont make it look likelly. He can evolve, and that makes him a bit better than trump who is a cartoon character of his own delusion. BUt whats sad is people can only insult the other stide and blindly defend their own. This isn't about their 'legacies' or statues, this is about action and history and biden if you paid attention to his 1980s presidential run before he was blown out of the water in 2008 has shown a willingness to lie...big surprise no different from many politicians but still checks balances accountability towards any of our public officers are small. I'm not "against"biden, Ive seen him make terrible decisions, I've seen him evovle. He defintiely needs public pressure to continue to do so or if his time as a senator of tax haven delaware has shwon, hell turn the other cheek
Kremlin papers appear to show Putin’s plot to put Trump in White House Exclusive: Documents suggest Russia launched secret multi-agency effort to interfere in US democracy https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...-show-putins-plot-to-put-trump-in-white-house
I'm skeptical. Not because of questions of it's genuineness, bit because of the timing. Real or fake, it might have showed up when it did because Putin thought it was a good time to throw this bomb into American politics. It could be that the Russian intelligence want liberals shouting "I told you so!" and another round of Trumpers dismissing stuff as fake news. I wish the Guardian would have spent more ink talking about how they got the papers and why we should trust their sources.
Others are suggesting caution... but before trump, would there ever have been something like this that was even conceivable?
Article spends some time quoting experts on authenticity. But it would be pretty easy for a Russian intel agency to fake their own documents, perhaps starting with a real document and selectively editing to fit the plan to the reality, aggrandize their own role, or take out unfavorable bits. I don't doubt that Russia did plan to interfere though because obviously they did. What the document doesn't mention is working directly with the Trump campaign, which is the thing that most needs confirmation/disproving.
I think the bigger bombshell is that you could replace Russia with RNC/Murdoch/Fox and they would have written basically the same strategic document where they both plan to support and ride Trump to chaos in American Democracy that they both stand to benefit from in their own ways.
IIRC, in 2016, in a press conference in Mexico, then-candidate Trump told the then President of Mexico the same thing about "Trump's rhetoric that Mexico will pay for the wall"
Same deal with Medvedev and Obama in 2012, with Obama telling him he'd have more flexibility on missile defense after the election. The real business of international diplomacy isn't done when the cameras are rolling.
that's a horse of a different feather " have more flexibility" is not on the same level as go along w the lie that i've said in political rallies let me act tough on TV
