didnt watch the whole game but shumps stats are a pleasant surprise given how much i hated getting him. stats aside, how was his overall game impact on both sides of the floor though?
Shumpart just showed a bit more effort. Shumpart loved SAC and I bet he was salty about the trade for a long time. Today he tried.
I can think of better uses for both than riding the bench …. Send them out there to start trouble with the opposing "stars" … maybe get one or more of them tossed or broken.
Yeah , Green can get hot and put up points in a hurry …. I don't mind running him out there early in each half to see if he gets it going. If he does , great , if not yank him ….
Because he’s a hof. He’s just disappointed house has sucked in the playoffs. What a shame Green and house both deserve to be in the doghouse
To be fair I rewatched the Shumpert 3's they weren't all clean makes but rather the result of some bounces. He's also been known to be a streaky shooter more likely to have bad shooting nights than good ones. None of that matters this game of course, he made shots and thus played great. Just skeptical as to whether or not it'll carry into the rest of the series. If Shump can play good, versatile defense and limit taking bad shots and turnovers we should afford minutes for him in this series. Shumps proved that veteran exp. does count for more than I thought, as he's showed up in G3 whereas House looks like he forgot how to play. Hope he keeps it up and continues to be a net positive.
i mean it doesn't really matter if those makes were "clean". that's exactly the type of contribution the rockets made the move for him for. its certainly better then anyone off the bench outside of probably rivers this series and they're going to need more of it, if they rockets are going to go deep in this series
I agree that it doesn't matter if it's clean or not for this game since they went in and that's all that matters. But over the course of a series, I cant trust him to get these type of shots (that rely on bounces) to go in, versus the 3s that shooters shoot. He's shot poorly in playoffs thus far, but if he can turn it around to be an avg shooter while playing good defense he should be a plus in this series. I'd play him over House at this point, who's lack of experience is showing in his poor decision making and choking under pressure. rivers is someone who plays well in big moments, it's a shame he isn't a few inches taller or he'd be able to replace what ariza brought plus more.
Agree. House is broken. Coach has lost confidence in him. Shame that House did not take advantage of the opportunity instead he wilted and looked defeated. This will hurt his chances of a better contract if he will have takers.
He was great. Offensively his game was the same as it always is, it's just that his shots went in. He even made a stepback off the dribble with a tight contest - a shot that probably would have gotten him immediately benched if it didn't go in. But hey, any decision looks good on offense when the shot goes in. Kind of reminded me of game 6 Josh Smith from a few years ago, when a guy that is way overconfident actually has a game where they play as good as they think they are. Defensively he looked good too. During the regular season he screwed up a lot because he seemed uncomfortable switching everything, it would often lead to someone being wide open. In this series it seems like we aren't really switching everything anymore, especially on their guards. So that strategy really fits his instincts, and that helps him a lot. He's fighting through screens to stick with his man rather than switching, but now that's what he's supposed to do. As a certified Shump hater he really proved me wrong. I was yelling for him to be permanently benched and he shut me up.
The disappearance of House in this series really shows how much the absence of Ariza hurts this squad...I was one of those who was clamoring for House but Ariza really helped this squad with his experience and open shot making. Hate to be that guy to bring up the Ariza argument once again but that's what I see being one of the key things that we are missing this series so far regardless of the game 3 win.
Green is absolute trash. Every time he's on defense, I cringe so hard. I can't wait till the Rockets sever ties with him this summer.
Overreaction to one game. Green is who he is, and he is a player who can contribute points quickly when the team is cold. They should continue to use him in spot minutes when the team needs an offensive boost, and on defense we have to live with the liability he presents hoping he gets a better matchup (covering Iggy vs. Steph maybe). The thing with Green is that he can energize the team and crowd; dunks, big threes, a block on D. We dont have too many players capable of that, and he is usually not scared of big moments. I'm fine with him seeing limited minutes and not playing some nights, but I dont think benching him completely is wise strategy.
