The NBA on ABC really, really sucks. I can't even explain it. It's the whole production, I guess. I don't know, but games just seemed way more interesting and important on NBC.

I never liked the NBC production anyway, what with Peter Vescey, Costas (who is great, but not really a basketball guy) and Steve Jones. Who cares what the intro song is, just tune in at tipoff and you won't have to worry about it. ABC/ESPN has positives and negatives (Tom TOOLbert, big negative) but on the whole seems no worse than NBC to me. I would prefer someone just give me Hubie Brown and Kevin Harlan for every game, maybe add in Walton or Barry every once in a while. It's NBA basketball, you don't really need much added to it.

I hated it when costas did basketball games on nbc. I didn't think nbc was all that either. I liked the nba on cbs in the eighties, what I remember of it. even though I was fairly young, I still remember dick stockton's calling of some games.

AMEN! I know I'm in the minority, but I enjoy Walton most of the time because he's just goofy. Just pair him with a solid play-by-play guy, and he's fine. Pair him with a jackass, and it's an iPod worthy event. Mike Breen and Doug Collins are two more of my favs. National TV games are the only chance I have of watching the Nugs and not feeling shame (for more info, see the sig).

Didn't Kelly write an article on the announcers earlier this season?

Yeah, the grades themselves are all crap, but I'm still cool with most of the descriptions. Regarding the grades themselves, I really wish I'd gone lower with Hastings:

I have no earthly idea why I gave them a "B" The letter grades were the last thing I put together on the last day, the rest of it took weeks to cobble together.

Commentaries is not much of a problem with either network(besides Toblert) But to hear that damn song/instrumental every break is a pain in the ass.

On a side note, ESPN should bring in Gus Johnson from CBS.

If I were to dynamite the entire system and cobble together my ultimate NBA network, it would be:

    Primary crew:
Kevin Harlan, Dick Stockton, Snapper Jones

    Second crew:
Marv Albert, Hubie Brown, Mike Fratello

    Studio:
    (shocker) EJ, Jet, Barkley

Sideline reporters: Erin Andrews, Craig Sager

TNT is the best NBA network hands down. Their presentation, play-by-play guys/color analysts, pre- and post-game shows, the whole production is just outstanding IMO.

My only wish is for TNT to take over all of ESPN's and ABC's games.

didn't you have to be a winning team the previous year to get scheduled on MNF?

and whenever I turn on a baseball game that's not on regional cable or TBS, the Yankees and Red Sox are always involved, now they've added another NY team to the mix, the Mets.

The worst part about the pussycat dolls intro is that I already have to constantly argue with my girlfriend that basketball isn't gay. She's says all they talk about during a basketball game is things like ball handling, penetration, taking it to the hole, banging bodies or banging on the inside, man to man or man on man, and even how some of the players have great bodies - they mean for basketball, but try convincing her of that. Now with John Amaechi and the Pussycat Dolls, how can I even try to argue?

NBA national schedule is a fu*king joke. They had Cavs on TNT this Thursday, this Friday on ESPN and this Sunday on ABC! Three times in a row on national TV in just one week!!!

I am just so sick and tired to watch Cavs.

Same here. They are on at least twice a week.

Including this week they have a back to back National TV. When was the last time that happened to the Rockets? Even Sir Charles complained last night, "We are showing the Cavs AGAIN next week?"

    From NBA.com, National TV appearances.

    ESPN
    10 -- Cleveland Cavaliers
    10 -- Dallas Mavericks
    10 -- Detroit Pistons
    10 -- L.A. Lakers
    10 -- Miami Heat
    10 -- Phoenix Suns

    TNT
    9 -- Chicago Bulls
    9 -- Cleveland Cavaliers
    9 -- Dallas Mavericks
    9 -- L.A. Lakers
    9 -- Miami Heat
    9 -- Phoenix Suns

    ABC
    5 -- Cleveland Cavaliers
    5 -- Detroit Pistons
    5 -- L.A. Lakers
    5 -- Miami Heat
    5 -- Phoenix Suns

They believe the cult of a singular personality can drive home ratings, in spite of the fact that this has happened exactly one time in post-cable pro team sport history (MJ). Why do you think we had to sit through all those 45-win Sixer games from 2001-2005?

(I know you guys already know this, but I just have to vent again.)

A week or 2 ago. I think they had two games on ESPN (Clippers and Lakers?).
