Does not make sense for more than 1 year or 2 years..... Lebron, PG or any of those should take his spot.
SAS saying this morning that Melo would take a little less of the 54 mil owed to him for a buyout to the Cavs.
SAS throwing **** at the wall. First it was the Cavs Then it was the Clippers Then he was open to the Celtics Oops, scratch the Clippers. Now it's the Rockets Now he's back to the Cavs.
I don't think it's SAS. I think it's Melo. He acts like he wants to win but it's ALL about the $$$ with him.
Actually only for 1 year, 2 years would prevent the changes of getting Lebron. He has 2 years left on his contract. Morey MUST target Lebron next year.
This is straight out of D'Antoni's mouth from a podcast on The Vertical. You tell me if Melo didn't ruin MDA's system in NY. No speculation needed. D'Antoni admits Melo bucked the system. Plain and simple. Maybe he'll be on board if James and CP are as well. You are right. Melo wouldn't be 'the man' here. D'ANTONI: "(Carmelo and I) don’t have a bad relationship. I speak to him. He’s a good guy,” D’Antoni, who coached Anthony as an assistant with Team USA, said last year on The Vertical podcast. “But I had one vision that I wanted him to play one way. He wanted to go the other way. I couldn’t get to my way.”
Melo and MDA would work. Melo for all his faults is an extreamly talented basketball player. He would play so good next to harden and cp3. Imagine him getting the ball with defenders closing out on him instead of him having to ISO all the time? He would look like the guy who was the leading scorer on all those team USA squads that featured Lebron kobe cp3. Can't focus on defense anymore that's not how your going to beat the Warriors imo, The rockets are right in their approach. Sure your need to be able to rebound and be disciplined on that side of the ball that's a fact. But you really need to be so diverse and potent on offense that the Warriors can't guard you either. Nobody is shutting down a team with KD steph and klay on the outside and the rockets would really have something similar with cp3 harden and melo. Melo is a good fit here.
I mean, we seem to be fine letting Harden question the authority to those above him. It would've been a giant red flag if Carmelo is openly questioning the coaching staff on Team USA. Knicks, not so much. They've been a bloody dumpster fire for the last, I dunno, 20 years or so. I really do believe that Carmelo is at the stage of his career where if he really want to cement some sort of legacy in his NBA playing days, he's gotta be teaming up with players who can spread the floor and utilize is spot up shooting to the full extent. The Rockets with multiple facilitators and lethal shooters can help him do that. To each and their own though, I respect that.
For real? How does that work... I know we have the 11mil "TPE" but how do we meet the rest of his salary via trade?
I believe he makes like 25 million this year and to my knowledge we don't have 14 million in cap space do we? That would leave us nothing to go after any additional players.
Surprised that a little more than 50% said no given the current thirst for melo. I forget what i voted. I mightve said no at the time. If i could vote again id say yes
