"(Carmelo and I) don’t have a bad relationship. I speak to him. He’s a good guy,” D’Antoni, who coached Anthony as an assistant with Team USA, said last year on The Vertical podcast. “But I had one vision that I wanted him to play one way. He wanted to go the other way. I couldn’t get to my way.” It was over clashing of styles. If Paul and Harden can sell him on picking up the role he had for Team USA, it could be a different tune all together. However, seeing a quote in the same article that Melo didn't want to move to the 4 is a bit worrisome though.
Melo is going to accept his role and become Shawn Marion. We sign Blake with the cap space after trading EG and Ryno and Blake is our Amare. And this team, Amare 2.0 won't get kicked out of the game against the Spurs. 2018 NBA CHAMPIONSHIP CLUTCHCITY HOUSTON
The problem with Melo is he is already neutered. He stayed in NYC because of a split tail. His game hasn't improved in 8 years. He's nothing but a stat filler with a big ego. Chris Paul can't help him grow a set. I'd just roll with RYNO if we have to give up anything of value. If NYC buys him out and he comes as the #4 for a minimum then I'll hold my breathe and hope he starts giving a damn about winning. CP needs to teach Harden the finer points of leadership and with Melo here the 1st rough patch they'll all be packing it in with a big can of quit. If it happens I hope I'm proved wrong. We just lost Bev, we need new junkyard dog on this team not another Kevin Martin.
He'll join a super team instead of a team that sucks plus he'll have a real point guard , not like when he was in New York
No way, man. All I read here is, "I was the boss and my employee gave zero fcks." I don't care what the reason was -- as fun as this team is right now, they will go through some stuff times and MDA's philosophy will be put to the test once again. you really want a guy who has proven track record of challenging the man in charge. That's how **** gets messy quickly. As good as Melo is (especially Team USA Melo), I have real concerns about reuniting these two.
My intent wasn't to shine on Jeremy Lin. The main point is that Melo killed MDA's system and got him run out of NY. MDA has once again proven that his system works with the right personnel. Melo did not seem to be a good fit. Selfish ballplayers that demand their touches and points kill any team oriented play. Right Dwight?
THIS. Melo was kryptonite in MDA's system in NY. This quote proves it. I don't see MDA anxious to have Melo back on his squad gumming up the works. But if CP is here, it could have a better effect. Melo won't be #1 man on campus any longer. I'm still reluctant to support this move. I just see Melo being in it for HIMSELF
Again, Melo with CP3 and Harden vs Melo and the garbage they had in NY I do agree, I would not want Melo as my primary star but he's better than Ryan Anderson
I don't know the dynamics of why MDA got fired in NY. It's like someone from NY trying to speculate about Harden & Mchale's relationship, and if he or Dwight got him fired. What I do know is the NY media is crazy and will make up storylines just to make them. It's always been that way there. MDA & Carmelo could've bumped heads for a variety of reasons, we don't know if it had anything to do with being selfish. Josh Smith came here and EVERYBODY claimed he was selfish with a low bball IQ, and the SAME guy single handedly saved our season and helped us get to our first WCF in years. Melo on a team like ours where he doesn't have the pressure of being THE guy is alot different than anything we've seen in NY
You'd think at this point in his career Melo would do whatever the coach asks him to do in order to give the team he plays on the best chance to win.
Paul, Harden, EG, Ariza, Melo, Griffin, Clint, Nene, Swaggy and our young guys. I'll believe it when I see it.
