Melo went down injured and the remaining scrub Knicks FINALLY bought into his system. They went on a tear. Jeremy Lin becomes a sensation. They had a torrid winning pace. Knicks beat Kobe and the Lakers, Lin scores 38, Kobe 34. LOL Then, Melo comes back, the offense comes to a grinding halt and MDA gets run out of town. Kobe killed MDA's system in LA as well. As you all know, Melo and Lala are no longer a thing. So she doesn't play a factor in his landing spot anymore. Maybe with her gone, he decides its time to take a backseat ride to win a ring? If he accepts the 2nd/3rd option here, he'd do wonders for this team. Anybody who denies that Melo as a Rocket in the correct mindframe to win wouldn't help are just delusional. Harden's prime is whittling down.... do anything you can to make improvements.
As long as we are not giving back Capela, Gordon, Beverly or Ariza (obviously Harden too) and we can lotto protect the 1st rounder that I'm sure would go back their way I'm all for it. He is under contract for 2 more years and I wouldn't expect his play to drop off in that time. He has averaged over 20 his entire career so he gives us a legit 2nd option scoring threat that can take some pressure off of Harden. And unlike adding when we added Dwight, this doesn't clog up the middle taking away from Harden's game. In fact these two have been teammates for team USA so there might even be a decent relationship there as Melo has always had good standing with the coaches and teammates on those teams.
lol. at first glance this thread seems like a joke. on another note, carmelo does seem to play better with other superstars. Watching him playin in the olypmics and fiba was like watching another player just be free to play to his strengths. if we keep the same style, he could be a dangerous weapon for us ...
So Steven A Smith said Melo is coming to Houston as part of the CP deal because CP wants Melo here. How do you think MikeD will react to this? It was Lin and Melo that forced him out of NY and now Melo is coming here at Chris Paul's request in order to come here. WOW
It's a different dynamic with CP3 here. I believe with CP buying into MDA's system, then Melo will too. Still not clamoring for him to come here, but so be it if it happens. I don't think CP would let Melo hog the ball and slow the offense like he did in NY

Look, we all know that Carmelo isn't the type of player to carry a team to the playoffs. If he's the best player on your team then you are in bad shape. But as the third option on a team with two of the best facilitators in the league? Sign me up right now.
I would prefer Paul George or Gordon Hayward. But if we have a realisitic shot of landing Melo I am all for it.
