Banfield is a f'n ripoff. Took my puppy in last week cause he was itching himself. The appt I think was $40. Vet says he sees nothing wrong, might be allergies. Appt - $40 Ear Swab - $40 Ointment - $25 Tablets - $80 So all of a sudden I owe $185!!!!! Freakin eh I was so pissed!!!!!! They they told me to make a follow up appt next week so they can recheck everything. Yeah right.
One of my friends had recommended Banfield, but I couldn't go away from my Vet. I go to Gulfgate Animal Hospital and I love it there. I been taking my dogs there forever and they done such a great job of taking care of my puppies and never over-charging me. For my puppy, his hospital stay was $125 a day and that included all medicines and fluids including the medicines and fluids to take home. His staff was also so sweet since I was calling them at least 3 times a day asking for updates. PS. I'll post most pictures when I get back from work today Rocketgirl.
Sounds like your puppy survived the Parvo and is doing well. This makes my heart happy. I need good dog stories, too. My dead cancer dog (Zoe) just passed her one year death anniversary this last Friday. I do admit I got a bit teary-eyed reliving the nightmare because that whole time was absolutely heartbreaking for me.
I think the majority of the savings was an expensive test we had on him to find out why his head shakes uncontrollably from time to time. I dont keep the receipts and am unable to track the savings back. I read all the reviews and pay for the piece of mind to be honest.
My pup is doing great. Full of energy. I took him to the vet the other day and he has gained 3 pounds. The vet said he looks very healthy .
Well at least your puppy didn't rip up your hand...because that's what happened to me tonight! Stupid dog fell climbing on the patio chair and got his leg stuck, and in my trying to rescue him he bit my hand multiple times, since I guess that was the only available leverage for him. About 6-7 stitches.
What kind of dog is it? Dang, that sucks. Would have been a good YouTube video, though, if someone shot it!
Ha yeah...it would have been pretty funny if he hadn't sliced my damn hand...and then I looked down and blood was dripping everywhere. He's a chocolate mixed lab. Really good dog and really smart, aside from the bad puppy things he does. Afterward it seemed he was trying to say he was sorry; kinda cute.
Yeah you gotta be careful when dogs are in pain or panicking. Their instincts tell them that everything approaching is a threat.
Didn't really want to start a new thread on this so sorry if this offends anyone that I am placing this post in this thread..... Today, my wife and me decided to put down our 13 and a half black cocker, Pepper (aka Peppy). Her kidneys had failed her and we were cleaning up anywhere from 5 to 8 pee puddles a day. Today, I had already cleaned up 7 and this was before 11:30. We had decided awhile back that if we felt she was suffering that we would NOT continue to keep her alive. She was also anemic and diabetic and today just felt like it was her time. I am so sad right now that I really don't know what else to say or do. I have to go in about an hour and a half to pick up her remains. I already miss her so much! Thanks for letting me share my grief...
Sorry to hear that, Manny. I had to do the same a couple of months ago and it was probably the hardest thing I've ever done.
Sorry to hear that Manny. I know I say this in all the dog passing threads, but I mean it. May your dog find herself in heaven where God treats her to unlimited belly rubs, open fields and treats. RIP Peppy
Sorry to hear that, manny. My dog is truly my best friend, so I know how you must feel right now. My condolences.
