Catch them. They'll probably cry like little girls after you turn them into their parents. And if their parents don't care sue them for damages. Win-win.
A co-worker of mine dealt with a similar situation a few years ago. Someone shot out the windows of his house with a bb gun like 5 or 6 times. He hid out in his car for several nights and finally chased down the kid and caught him. The beautiful part of it all: The kid was shooting at the wrong house the entire time. He was meaning to terrorize a teacher that had given him a hard time, but he was at the wrong address.
It's probably just like you say, punk kids. I doubt they're 'sticking it to the man' so much as just bored, and you were a simple target to relieve their boredom. Probably this will go away, and that will be that. At least I hope. I'd hate to see things "escalate" over bored punks causing mischief. It's regrettable the amount of damage, but kids do stupid things and it's not always a deliberate act to hurt or upset someone. Set up a camera or two, and hope that you can identify them if they do it again, but again, I would hate to see it escalate. I'm not saying it's alright for kids to be doing stuff like this, but we tore some stuff up as kids too, and probably upset some adults running around trying to cure our own boredom, and if this happened to me I would do my best to just take it on the chin, call it "even," and move on, not that this would be easy. It could have been something worse, though I'd be pretty mad too. Anyway, if you are indeed a deliberate target of their mischief and it continues, that's different, and perhaps a camera would help you figure out who it is. Hopefully you've seen the worst if not all of it.
just buy a camera security system at fry's or something... probably can get a package with 4 cameras for like 500 bucks...or off ebay you can get like 8 for that price...but probably wont include the monitor, however you can connect it to your tv or monitor with the right extension. Not hard to install if you know how to use a drill, a hammer, and how to hook up a vcr/dvd player. You may need help with the wiring to the fuse box, that's about it. This is probably the best option as it'll actually record something.
Yeah, I gotta agree with the surveillance camera. Also, you can maybe hand out fliers around your neighborhood letting them know that this is occurring, and to keep their eyes open for anything they might see. Also, if there's a neighborhood watch in your community, you could maybe notify them as well.
It wouldn't surprise me if the shots are coming from another location where your windows and car are in line of sight. All the perp would have to do is crack his window open, fire off some bbs or pellets, and close his window.

then spend the rest of your life looking over your shoulder and wondering when those f'd up kids turn into f'd up older kids or adults and acquire a real gun and try to murder you or your family for revenge for ratting them out. if you catch whoever did that and they are on your property with bb guns, kill them.
If it's really the work of punk kids then making an example of the culprits might end up attracting more of them. Unless that example is so gruesome that it serves as a deterrent to the rest of them. Also how do bb guns go through car windows? Unless the bb guns of today are of far higher quality than the ones I owned when I was 12...
